Guest guest
Dear members, Sage Bhrigu wrote a samhita all possible horoscopes for human beings and this huge collection, over the years got divided among the disciples, whose descendants are well-spread with only part of his work. The sage Bhrigu was father of Shukra, the preceptor of demons. There are many fake versions of Bhrigu Samhita are being sold in the market. One such fake Bhrigu Samhita published by Dehati Pustak Bhandar was examined by me. Like one in Hoshiarpur, one Bhrigu Samhita reading astrologer 'Bhagwan Das Mittal' lived in Mathura and he wrote a book by the same name 'Bhrigu Samhita', giving placement of all the planets, singly in all 12 houses for all the 12 ascendants. This book was found to be quite accurate by someone who asked me to trace it and send him. Later he wanted if any other book written by the same writer. But author's other work was published in Hindi only by name' Akhand Bhagyodaya Darpan'. This later book has some very valid transit rules. I was asked to translate it into English but I am not getting time to do it. As World Book Fair ia approaching, if anybody wants any of these books I may be able acquire and send. Best wishes Shiv Chadha - manharde398 vedic astrology Friday, January 25, 2002 11:33 PM [vedic astrology] Brugu Samhita. Pranam,Brugu Samhita is originally written in Sanskrit on thousands of leaves by Sage Shree Brugu. Stripped version of original script was translated into many Indian languages. It has more than thousand charts. Find your chart and check reference reading (approximately two pages). Most laborious part is to find your chart. I bought my copy of Gujarati translation from bookstore in Surat India. Manhar.Archives: vedic astrologyGroup info: vedic astrology/info.htmlTo UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology-....... Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaya! Dear Members, Allow me to share my experiences with certain Samhitas that are attributed to sage Bhrigu. I have travelled extensively in some parts of India and stayed at various places. I found one respected researcher, Sri Brahma Gopal Bhaduri, son of a great scholar who initiated Paul Brunton (author of 'Search in Secret India' etc), in Varanasi. Sri Brahma Gopal Bhaduri is a busy person with a large following. His greatest asset is the unbelievably large (largest that I have seen in any single individual's possession) collection of ancient handwritten texts that he acquired from his late father. Infact the govt library took over, and he had to fight in the court to get it back. I found many rare astrological and tantric texts there. Though he claims to have the Bhrigu Samhita, my impression is that he has only a few charts and not a very exhaustive collection. Of course the theory part of the Samhita that runs into many hundreds of pages on the basics, various chakras, transits, dashas, etc etc is nice. Other astrologers that I have met in Varanasi dont have his kind of an authentic, large collection. He hardly does any readings, except for his close followers occassionally.BTW, Sri Bhaduri is difficult to meet. After 2 days of serious efforts on my part, he chanced to see me on his security TV screen (!), and sent word allowing me to get in (he reads faces, as he told me later). After that I had no problem accessing his library. As far as other samhita readers are concerned, no one else allows others access to their collection for scrutiny. I got a good reading from another Sastri in Varanasi, but he was difficult as a person. As far as the books in the market are concerned, the one by Bhagwan Das Mittal is just a very little part of the Samhita, maybe 1/16th. It is very very badly translated and makes you laugh many times at the literal English translation that makes it funny. A couple of other Hindi books also have translated exactly the same chapters, again very incomplete, yet of some value. There is one copy (Samskrit to Hindi)I bought for INR 2000/- which is exhaustive in its treatment of the theory (roughly over 1500 to 2000 pages?), which is reasonably good. I dont believe that it was written by the great sage Bhrigu (the text at many places gives it away). Yet this so called Bhrigu Samhita is the most exhaustive astrology text that I have seen, and compiles all principles in one place (Sutras etc on things such as vargas, dashas, transits, chakras, karakatwas, remedies etc etc). There is another 'Ravana Samhita' in my personal library, styled exactly in the same way, attributed to the great asura Ravana. It maybe interesting to some that Ravana was a great devotee of Shiva, and that the Jainas write that Ravana will become a FUTURE THIRTHANKARA. If one wants to read these so called PRINTED 'Bhrigu Samhitas', my advice is to lay your hands on the 2000 pages, voluminous book (maybe Shiv Chadha could help you here)with the original samskrit and hindi text. This is perhaps a better one. As for the original Samhita, by Bhrgu's grace if you chance to see one, you will see it in some readers possession probably. Time for me to get back to work... Guest guest
Namaste Satya, I had been to Sri Brahma Gopal Bhaduri sometime in 1988 when I was studying in Varanasi. He used to give atrological and palmistry readings to individuals then. I went there after learning about him from some friends of mine who also had gone there to get their readings. When I went the first day, there were already several people seated in the room waiting for their readings. I got the opportunity the second or the third day. He examined my palm as well as my fingers, thumb etc. for some time with a magnifying glass and then proceeded to write down his reading a sheet of paper. After finishing that he asked me if I had any questions. I asked about education and career. He said that my career would be perhaps in "weaving"! Some of his predictions have come true -- others are a little vaguely worded and do not say when they will happen. While I was waiting for my reading I observed how he was dealing with his other clients. In case of one person, he immediately asked the person if he was working in secret service -- the person replied in affirmative. In another person's case, he said that there was a snake living in the house. In yet another person's case, he said that it was one of the best hands he had seen (this was a young girl about 16-18 years of age). He had several types of reading that he would do, brief, medium, and detailed. For the most detailed, youy were required to furnish a photograph, which it was said that he would put in his puja and get some reading through supernatural means. I went for the basic reading -- it cost about Rs.50 I think. Just wanted to share my experience. satyaprakasika wrote: > Aum Namah Shivaya! > > Dear Members, > > Allow me to share my experiences with certain Samhitas that are > attributed to sage Bhrigu. Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaya! Namaste Krishna, It was nice reading your experience with Sri Brahma Gopal Bhaduri. I know that he used to do readings then (till 90s). But of late he hardly does any readings for outsiders except occassionally. But he still does his research. He shared some of his techniques of palm reading with me. I even interviewed him while making a Telefilm that I got done during the Mahakumbhamela last year for an Australian company. He relies mostly on Sadhana now and sometimes makes fantastic predictions just looking at the face. His library is very very good. Very many rare ancient manuscripts are there and unfortunately he doesnt have enough resources to preserve them, except from the funds given by the visitors. He said many nice things about me and for reasons best known to him, allowed me access to his library by God's grace!BTW have you visited any Palmist (I dont remember his name, can get it from my records in Sydney)in Varanasi, whose Guru was a Bengali? This palmist impressed me by telling me the lagna and 5 planetary positions correctly after taking my palm prints. That reminds me of Sri R.G.Rao of Bangalore, whom I met nine years back. Though he did not impress me much, some of his nadi techniques are quite effective. He is the only astropalmist who has come 100% correct (he gave some predictions in writing)so far in my experience. He has also written some books. But I did not enjoy the books as much as his live reading. I would be happy to hear of any other experiences of yours in Varanasi, astrological or otherwise. There is one Bhrigu reader near the main temple. Have you visited him? The holy cities of Kasi and Tiruvannamalai have always been among my favourites of all the holy places.
