Dear Gurus & friends

1. Partha: I have to correct u again: Most of what u have written is

correct except that St as YK for Ve-lagnas has to be WEAK, ie only in

3/dusthan, for a VRY; does NOT apply if in kendra/kon.

2. For others: Gurudev has an excellent lesson, where he has covered

all these types of VRYs incl the AL related ones, with various examples

in the varahamihira list. It is too detailed & too important & unfair

for me to try & summarise. Anyway, its at the SJVC site, & u can read

it even if u r not a varahamihira member (i think the lesson was also

sent to this List once).

3. But all this STILL leaves the qn asked by Partha & modified by me,

which unfortunately neither I nor he, nor anyone else has answered. I

there are NO other conjunct planets, & if there is no aspect of AK or

lagna-Lord, WHICH signifiers gain vs lose among the 3 contenders (ie a)

house occupied, & the b) natural & c) lordship significations of the 2

planets involved).

4. My answer (Gurus please rectify): In the VRY by weakness (ie conj in

dusthan), it is the dusthan lordship which gains at the expense of the

other, ie non-dusthan lordship, of the same planet. In the VRY by

strength, ie conj in kendra/ kon, it is the reverse. And the natural

significations & the house signification play a part which suits them

(basically, lassoing a tall guess there). Could the Gurus shed some

light on Gainer vs Loser? I am not sure of my answer at all

5. Ram's qn: "if 6th house lord mercury joins with 8th house lord sun

in 8th house ,will it lead to strong VRY or weak VRY. mercury is also

combusted.":

My attempt: First of all, type a, ie conjoining in ie papisthan (ie

3/dusthan), ie formed by weakness of dusthan-lords is a LESS

SUSTAINABLE VRY than one formed by strength (ie in kendra/kon)of these

lords, which let us call type b. But type a is only less sustainable,

not weaker than type b (I think my earlier wrong terminology created a

miscommunication, ref Anjaneya's posting). In Ram's case, Mc L6 is in

dusthan & combust & conjoin L8. So, in a VRY formed by weakness (ie

type a), that is a strong VRY for Mc; however, Sn wd not give so much

benefits, as it forms a Saral Yog (L8 in 8), giving honour, longevity,

character.

6. OK, OK. We are enjoined by Partha & others to look at charts & not

faff theory. (note there are many examples in Gurudev's article).

Anyway. So. In my chart with Vi Lg, in 4 Sg, I have 4 planets: Jp

L4/7, Ve L2/9, with Ma L3/8 and St L 5/6 very closely conj to a degree.

These are not conjoined/ planetary-aspected by AK or lagnalord. Ma has

weak dig-bala, but wins yudh over St. Jp forms a host of yogas (Hamsa,

Amla, Parijat, GajaKesari, Pravrajya), but Ma & St dont form any great

yogas (except Tapaswi). So it is NOT a strong VRY (no great heights),

but a relatively sustainable one (longer term, as formd in kendra). In

my Ma & St antars (dasas not yet some, St finished at 2), Ke-Ma & Ke-St

was when I entered IIT & IIM (no VRY effect there, as already entered

by then: the entrance exams were in previous antars), Ve-Ma was when I

re-migrated back to India, effectively ended a personally particularly

troubled period & started a new life, & changed professions, & current

Ve-St has been professionally dull, with end of a major assignment,

what with Kantak Shani coinciding. So in all these periods, there was

nothing earth-shattering. However, each of these antars had a positive

& long term effect in my life. OTOH, Jp & Ve, the conjoining planets

have NOT been spoilt, & have been pretty fair.

So: WHO signifies the gainer/loser, dear all? I still dont know.

Nandan
