Hare Rama Krsna

Dear Visti and Nandan!

According to Patanjali there are 8 angas or Organs of Yoga and hence the name

Astanga Yoga. The Organs are

1. Yama

2. Niyama

3. Asana

4. Pranayam

5. Pratyahara

5. Dharana

6. Dhyana

7. Samadhi

Yama and Niyama (the DOs and Don'ts) are infact the most important as they build

the foundation. Without them progressing a single step forward is next to

impossible.

A true sadhu follows the yama and niyama spontaneously, however for a ordinary

mortal, practicing them with a discipine becomes very important.

More in my next mail.

Regards

Anjaneya
