I am taking the liberty of ccing this to the List for 3 reasons: a) I

hope someone experienced would help you out in your queries, & b) for

the last couple of months, I have been receiving such requests

virtually every third day!; hence would like to send this to everyone

around, once & for all, c) sincere advice on seeking astro-counsel:

 

I would love to be able to read your chart & help you. But the truth

is, that while I have read many astro-books, I have no practical

experience in reading charts. I gave up on my own chart a few months

back. I just started reading charts of my very close friends & a couple

of semi-Gurus on this List only this month, mainly to correlate what I

am reading in the chart with their actual facts & events, not to

predict. Hence it would be unfair & dangerous for me to attempt to read

your, or anyone else's chart, at this learning phase of mine.

 

FURTHER, PLEASE realise, that many may SOUND erudite & know all the

RULES, & not be able to follow the correct astro-logic-path

SPECIFICALLY relevant for a particular chart. Which reference Lagna,

which karaka to START from: all this is NOT just for Confluence, it

also makes a gerat difference in one's mind-set when one is reading a

chart. That comes by experience. Greater experience leads to greater

intuit, which is ESSENTIAL in this field. Did u see Gurudev's (S Rath)

mail on the Puzzle where he said Ke+Ma+Ve in 10 in d-10 could be

headless (Ke) typing (Ma) work. It was staring at all our faces. Did

any one of us see it?

 

Ofcourse, on another note, he is the ultimate-SMS sender: he sends a

posting with not a single abbreviation, and completely lucid when

explained. But takes me ages to unravel. I usually send a private

message to some golden hearts around this List fwdg Gurudev's message &

requesting further explanation. Hah, thats my secret!

 

You MUST NOT ask for astro-advise, unless you are sure that the person

is experienced. Suppose I say some rubbish, which may be right or

wrong, my words could haunt you, buzzing in your head the rest of your

life. Do u realise how dangerous that is, for you? EVEN if you say u

believe only 10% in astrology, & I say u have this unpronounceable

chhih-chhih yoga-name in your marriage/ career field, not correctly

knowing that that yoga is actually negated in your chart, do u realise

how many times, just that dirty name, will continuously ring in your

mind? And suppose I said 90% of your past correctly, u will believe the

10% wrong so much more. And this 10% could be very material, in a very

important personal dimension of your life.

 

If u MUST ask, please ask one of the Gurus in the SJVC List to read

your chart. The dakshina they ask is actually very nominal. Go to

are mentioned, I'm sure the Rupee rates are much cheaper; I may be

wrong - pl send them an e-mail to find out. Else a cheaper option is to

to the life membership of the Jyotish Digest for Rs 4500, &

u'll get a box full of free coupons for readings; even the cheap annual

membership fee of Rs 200 or so, if I remember right, has some free

coupon attached. Even then, there is no guarantee that they will be

100% correct. Their remedial solutions, could in any case, be useful &

do no harm.

 

Nobody will stop u from asking on this List for free, but unless it is

one of the Gurus, or say an advanced student like Visti, pl do NOT get

over-influenced by whatever they read about your chart.

 

I dont like writing mails like this every 2nd day, refusing people who

refuse to believe me. I DO hope that one day, I SHALL become

experienced, & be able to counsel whoever seeks so. But today, I can do

lots of potential damage, EVEN if I am 90% right & 10% wrong in an

actual reading. I DO feel sad & impotent writing such e-mails, and,

because I am still in a career-flux of being redeployed in my

organisation, I DO have LOTS of time on my hands now (as u can see from

this e-mail).

 

At last, coming to the Red telefone:

 

There was an investment manager, who had a red, black & green telefone

on his desk. One day, he achieved Satori. That most of the calls he

made using the red telefone resulted in profits. From that day on, he

kept using the red telefone. This NATURAL habit of forming unreal

correlations in one's mind is MOST dangerous in 2 arts, ie investing, &

astrology. Let me be more explicit. Y'know that Sun, Merc & Ven are

around a sign away. Suppose you note over many charts, that whenever

Ven forms a particular astro-config with Ra & Neptune & blah-blah in

XYZ houses, bang, the person gets insect-bitten. So u form a theory &

keep using it, buttressed by your 15 charts where it has happened. It

just maybe that it was Sun doing all this all the time, & in all these

charts u did not notice that Sun & Ven were conjoined. Then comes this

chart where Ven is in 2 to Sun, & yet u confidently predict this, based

on your 15 charts. The person will, for the rest of his life, get

paranoid about any ant crawling on the opposite wall.

 

This is one of the MOST dangerous things to happen in my field, ie

Investing. A hypothesis forms in one's mind. Some money is made, on

account of this hypothesis. Which then entrenches the mind, & become a

Reason.

 

In the long run, the Reason stays, the Money goes.

 

And he stops making money in the markets & finds the time to write

books on how to make money in the markets. There, he writes all these

Reasons, he has discovered over 4 decades of investing. It becomes a

best-seller, as the reasons SEEM lucid & he has given so many examples

& explained so many stock-market events.

 

He dies rich. And his readers die poor.

Dear Nandan,

That was such a wonderful message. Your cautiousness is indeed laudable,

not only because of your self-professed 'lack of expertise' in the said

field, but because this dangerous practice of making sweeping proclamations

on people's lives, are often prevalent among long term practitioners and

scholars of astrology. Personally, I have come across this many times,

including an astrologer whom I once met who is quite a scholar, publishing

regularly in reputed astrological journals. It required an iron will on

my part, to maintain my focus and balance and continue to do my karma.

For that is the only path one knows. This brings into mind the question

of the role of the astrologer as a mediator. By pronouncing certain dictats,

he is mediating in the life of the native. This role of mediation bestows

tremendous responsibility on the shoulders of the astrologer. I wonder,

how many have have shoulders capable enough to undertake such a responsibility?

For surely, otherwise we would all be jyotishes by now!
