Upapada matching for marriages

Respected gurus and other list members,

 

I have read about the rules for upapada matching for checking the karmic

compatibility between two persons (lagna in trines/opposition to spouse's

upapada).

 

For the second marriage (for one or both persons) do we use the same

upapadas? Or do we have to use different arudhas/houses to check the

compatibility? Does this depend on how the first marriage ended?

 

If we have to use different arudhas/houses, do we still use the same lagna

(for checking trines/opposition to spouse's upapada)?

 

If it's the second marriage for one person and first for the other how do

we do the matching?

 

What about third and subsequent marriages? (this is meaningful only if the

answer to the first question is yes)

Dear Vinod,

Check the 8th from Upapada for 2nd marriage.

Reckon this position the same way you did with the

original Upapada.

 

Similarly check the 8th from the 7th house; 2nd house

(in Rasi & Navamsa) to see the characteristics of the

2nd spouse.

 

Benefics in the 2nd house in Navamsa, can show the

presence of a 2nd spouse, before ending 1st marriage.

 

Rahu and Ketu will end the number of marriages, just

like in case of Siblings and Children. If

Venus(significator of marriage) is strong there can be

more spouses beyond the Nodes-placement.

Dear Visti, (and other list members)

My spouse has a Cancer/Lagna, Upapada/Leo (2nd house) with Sun and

Venus, 2nd from Upapada (3rd house) Virgo with Moon/Saturn exact conjunction

18 deg. This is her 4th marriage.

I have a Capricorn/Lagna, Upapada/Pisces (3rd house) no planets, 3

planets aspect from the 9th house, Virgo, Moon, Jupiter, and Venus. 2nd from

Upapada, Aries , (4th house) no planets, but my debilitated Sun/Libra 10th

house aspects as does Saturn on 10th house aspect from Cancer/7th house.

This is my 2nd and final marriage, since my (Navamsa, 2nd house, Gemini, has

Ketu), no more marriages for myself. Plus 2 malefic aspects on 2nd from

Upapada tend to deny relationships in latter part of my life?

My question is on our Upapada matching. Her Cancer Lagna, my Pisces

Upapada is a 5/9 relationship, very good, but my Capricorn Lagna to her Leo

Upapada is a 6/8 relationship, not so good? So this would make her relate

better to me than I to her? I married her based on our Cancer/Capricorn

Lagnas, Both our Moons in Virgo/Hasta, Sun, her's, Leo, mine, Libra, plus

marriage rulers are both in Virgo, her marriage ruler, 3rd house, Saturn 18

Virgo with her Lagna ruled Moon, 18 degrees Virgo, and my Moon 10 Virgo with

AK/Venus 23 Virgo, and Jupiter 21 Virgo. Marriage rulers in the same sign

is very good, plus my Jupiter is 3 degrees, from her Moon/Saturn 18 Virgo,

which is suppose to be very good.

She has Rahu in Capricorn/7th house, and I have Mars/Saturn in Cancer

7th house. She is or was a widow and I have Saturn in 7th (marriage to a

widow). Both of us are in a Saturn Dasa, but it is 12 months apart. Moon

match gave 23 of 36 Kutas, above 17 is good. I am concerned that her

Leo/Lagna and my Pisces/Upapada (6/8) will limit our soul connection? But

with my 7th/Cancer with 2 malefics (Mars/Saturn), plus my 2nd from Upapada

has Saturn/Sun aspects, such is my lot.

Thank you very much for clarifying my doubts! Just to make sure I

understand correctly I am using a real life example below. Please let me

know if I have understood correctly.

 

(For reasons of privacy, I am giving below only those details relevant to

my question. If you want me to send you the full chart I can send it to

you privately)

 

Boy (first marriage)

Rasi : Lagna - Aquarius, UL - Scorpio

Navamsa: Lagna - Taurus, Sun in Scorpio (7th), Mars (7L) in Pisces (11th)

Rahu in Leo (4th)

 

Girl (second marriage)

Rasi : Lagna - Aries, UL - Cancer, MeR and Sun in Leo (2nd from UL),

8th from UL - Aquarius

Navamsa : Lagna - Taurus

 

Boy's lagna (Aquarius) and girl's 8th from UL (Aquarius) are the same. I

am reading this as "being in trines". Or should I exclude 1st house for

trine calculations?

 

Boy's UL (Scorpio) and girl's lagna (Aries) are not in trines (6-8

relationship). I've read that 6-8 relationships (among planetary

positions) are bad. Does it hold for this purpose as well?

 

In boy's navamsa Sun is in the 7th, Rahu is in the 4th. So marriage to a

widow can't be predicted. Can we rule it out?

 

For girl, MeR and Sun are in 2nd from UL. There are no other aspects

through rasi drishti. SatR is in Aquarius (7th house aspect). The first

marriage ended because of death of husband. Apart from 7th house aspect of

retrogade Saturn I don't see any other malefic influences. I've read that

Sun is never a malefic w.r.t marriage. Is the death of husband shown in

this chart? Of course I understand it might not be as clear cut and there

are several other factors including the fact that the birth time probably

needs rectification.

There should be a correction to the mail given before;

Its the: Upapada, trines, 7th and lord.

 

Now for 2nd marriage, we see the 8th from Upapada and reckon the same.

 

Let me however try with first spouse;

 

Your chart;

 

Firsti Spouse/Marriage:

Upapada is in Pisces. Mars rules the 2nd therefrom and is debilitated in 7th

with Saturn. First marriage didn't last.

 

Now Of the trines, 7th and lord of Upapada, 7th(Virgo) with the lord; Jup is

much stronger. Virgo has Jup, Deb-Venus and Moon. As Venus is debilitated there

should be some strong Mercurian traits on the first spouses lagna, as well as

some Cancerian traits.

So Moon and Merc should influence 1st spouses lagna.

 

2nd spouse/Marriage:

8th from Pisces is Libra. Hence we reckon libra in the same mannor; Lord of

Libra is Venus and is again in Libra, with Jup and Moon. This could ensure the

same type of Lagna for 1st and 2nd spouse.

 

Karen-Pierce:

I'll skip directly to 2nd spouse, as my time is short.

Upapada is in Leo, and the 8th from Leo is Pisces. Pisces is aspected by Saturn

and Moon from 7th, showing the strong influence of Saturn on your Lagna..

Mercury should also play a role, due to these grahas being in a virgoan sign.

Moon is weak under the heavy foot of Saturn, hence influence is small.

 

Her Navamsa has Ketu in 7th. I would have expected only 1 marriage, hence

rectification maybe needed in this case.

Mercury joining Ketu ended her first marriage, so is it possible that Lagnaamsa should be in Leo??

 

Reckoning 7th in Navamsa as Lagna, Venus is in the 10th, aspected by Merc(Skin)

who is aspected by Mars(piercing). Could have been a doctor?

 

Rasi was enough.

Get a hang of this type of reckoning and later we can go into siblings, children, etc.
