Guest guest
Dear Robyn, > Thank you for the response. The Arudha lagna is a concept > that still eludes me. On one tape of Guru Rath's he said that the > Arudha is the 'body' that we ride for this lifetime, > implying that it has a very real role to play in the > reality of our lives. But at the same time, I read that > it is only the 'perception' that the world has of us that > is the arudha. I find that if I analyse my life according > to Narayana Dasa from the Arudha Lagna, I get a far more > accurate picture of what happened to me in actual > occurences than from Lagna with Vim. Lagna is Satya Peetha and shows true self. Arudha means "the risen one". Arudhas of houses show how the matters signified by the houses "rise" in the material world and how they are visible. When you say one's "intelligence and abilities" (5th house), they are not visible. You cannot see them. But one's trophies, awards, scores in exams etc are "visible". It may be true that they are only images and perceptions of the abilities and the true abilities may be different. But those are the only things visible to the world. Similarly, lagna shows true self. Arudha lagna shows how self rises in the material world and how self is "visible" in the world. For example, who is my "self" - who is "Narasimha Rao"? Is it my body, my mind or something else? What is it? This is tough to answer, because the true self is hidden inside and not visible. But arudha shows how this self rises in the world in a way that the world can see. It is the image. When you say "Narasimha Rao", it may evoke an image of my physical body to some people who know me. For someone who has only seen my photo, it may evoke an image of my photo. For someone who has seen neither, it may evoke an image of an intelligent scholar or a religious person or an aggressive debater or whatever they think of me. Even for those who have seen me, the image evoked may be a mixture of what they think of me and an image of my photo/body. Whether it is body or photo or a mental image, it all shows the image people have of me. It shows how my self is visible to the world. Arudha lagna shows how the world perceives a native, sees a native and thinks of a native. Yes, it is very very important. Though we like to say that lagna shows satya (truth) and arudha lagna shows maya (illusion), the fact is that this illusion is very important, for it is all we can see. The whole world, our lives, our bodies are all but an illusion. Body IS part of the illusion. So no wonder you found arudha lagna very important.
