tithi kshaya

Hello,

 

I am a little confused about what the effect of a deleted tithi is. I

understand the technical part of it: i.e. the tithi starting after

the first sunrise and ending before the second sunrise; however I do

not have any information about it other than that. In a book I

read, "tithi kshaya should be avoided for all auspicious acts." What

is the effect of the deleted tithi? Say there are other factors

involved - like this Thursday July 11 - where there is gurupushyamrit

yoga through the day where I am living, but also this deletion of a

tithi is occuring..how should we weigh these factors and what

inauspiciousness does this type of event involve?

 

Also while on the subject, what would tithi vridhi, or addition as I

have read it, involve? Both these states of tithis occur regularly

but in an infrequent manner. How should they be approached, and is

there any utility for their use?
