Guest guest
Wedding muhurta Hare Rama Krishna Dear list members Does it is true that in traditional Indian muhurta system the wedding (vivacha yagya) ceremony not performed during time when Sun moved at South (from summer to winter solstices - if we will see at point of sunrise during that time (day after day) we can see that this point moved upon horizon from north to south, it is true for north hemisphere of course) any weddings not performed. The point is that four couples intent to do that ceremony (they are ISKKON members) simultaneously and one from that members ask me about that matter. But I did not know about that. With best wishes, Sergey Please pardon me for that trouble.

Yes, this is traditionally done in this way. This is because during the half year of Dakshinayana (after summer solstice) the Devatas are asleep, and it's the day of the Raksasas, so it's not so auspicious, especially because we expect them to be awake and present during the yajna. However, our of certain other considerations someone may still decide to perform the yajna during these months. Then by propelry performing Prayascitta-homa, the evil effects may be decreased, if the muhurtha is otherwise good. We also have vivaha samskaras performed many times in Hungary during Dakshinayana, or even Caturmasya, which is even more the time when the Devatas are at rest. So the main factor should be a good muhurtha otherwise and chanting of the Holy Names which makes everything auspicious. Guest guest
Dear friends If a marriage has to be performed in the Chaturmasa, then a way out is to perform the Ceremony in a TEMPLE, or in a Holy Place, like Tirupati, Hardwar etc. Traditionally it is accepted that in holy places, the Rakshas cannot do any mischief --- Gauranga Das <gauranga wrote: > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Sergey, > > Hare Krishna. > > > Wedding muhurta > > Hare Rama Krishna > > Dear list members > > Does it is true that in traditional Indian muhurta system the wedding > > (vivacha yagya) ceremony not performed during time when Sun moved at > > South (from summer to winter solstices - if we will see at point of > > sunrise during that time (day after day) we can see that this point > > moved upon horizon from north to south, it is true for north > > hemisphere of course) any weddings not performed. > > The point is that four couples intent to do that ceremony (they are > > ISKKON members) simultaneously and one from that members ask me about > > that matter. > > But I did not know about that. > > Yes, this is traditionally done in this way.
