What does Prasara say about retrograde planets ?

Dear Brother Visti, Honoured Guru Mr Rath and all the members,

Hello ! What are sage Prasara views about retrograde planets ? Is it

true that retrograde planets in their sign of exaltation become

debilitated and being in the sign of debilitation become exalted ?

Also does the effect of a planet being retrograde affect all the

divisional charts as well ? I would be grateful if someone could

provide me accurate views on this issue.

I can't recall that I have read Parasara giving statements about retrograde

planets switching their exaltation/debilitation qualities, but this is

traditinally accepted, and that's what Sanjay also taught to me. It is not

however that a retrograde debilitated planet behaves completely like an

exalted one. Still, his debility is broken, i.e. neechabhanga Rajayoga may

manifest. Also for an exalted one it's ucchabhanga, decreasing the

favourable results by maybe 60-70%, depending on other influences. As for

divisional charts, yes, a planet's retrogression will affect its results in

all the divisional charts, because this is a factor independent of what

division we apply to it.

Dear Gauranga Das Ji,

Thank you for you reply to my query about retrograde planets. My

personal view about retrograde planets are that they have a further

and deeper meaning in a chart, the effects can be varied and sometimes

unpredictable. However I would be glad if you could tell me the

importance of the Sun and its position in the dasamsa chart, does it

signify a lot about a persons career ?
