Lagna Vimshottari Dasa and Moon Vimshottari Dasa ..help needed

Well this is my first ever personal request this year. I have been

trying to compare the results from Lagna Vimshottari Dasa and Moon

Vimshottari Dasa for last several days. The reason being that I am in

middle of very intensive, costly and desperate job search thesedays.

My chart is attached below, Here is what I found(in short):

 

PoorvaBhadra Nakshatara is from 20AQUARIUS00 to 03PISCES20

LAGNA is at 328 AQUARIUS 29

nakshtara balance = 13 degrees 20 minutes minus 8 degrees 29 minutes

= 4 degrres 51 minutes or 0.3675 Jupiter is the controller of

poorvabhara nakshatra so Jupiter dasa starts at birth and multiplying

0.3675 with 16 yars, I get % years 9 months and 25.2 days or from

7/20/1961 to 5/15/1967, followed by Shani Mahadasa and followed by

Mercury Mahadasa from 5/15/1986 to 5/15/2003…currently I am

running

Mercury/Saturn period from 9/6/2000 to 5/15/2003 and which has been

tremendously frustrating as far as job search and heavy expenses are

concerned since Jan2002. When going through various pratyantardasa

periods for last 9 months i.e., from Mercury/Saturn/Moon through

Mercury/Saturn/Rahu (from 2/10/2002 to 1/6/2003) and comparing

predictions from K.T. Shubkarkan's Nakshatara book, all

punishments

which have been delievered so far stand confirmed (ditto). Now K.T.

Shubkaran's book indicates that there is some light at the end of

the

tunnel in Mercury/Saturn/JupIter period from 1/6/2003 to 5/15/2003.

Is it true?

 

Further Ketu Mahdasa(lagna vimshootari ) is expected to start from

5/15/2003 for 7 years and BPHS indicates lots of success since Ketu

is in Aquarius in Kendra and linked to Lagna Lord Saturn. However

Moon Vimshottari dasa indicates that Saturn/Mercury period continues

until April 2004 and is full of punishments, tremendous fear and

frightfulness since Mercury is placed 6th from Saturn.(actually this

is also true sofar). So when I combine the results of two vimshottari

dasas then there is 57% success due to Ketu Mahadasa from 5/15/2003

but punishments and 43%fearsome state continues for another18 months

due to Saturn/mercury period. How do we reach the final conclusion

here? Will I get the essential job soon/when will the normal state

of affairs reached?

 

(I have fourplanets in Kendras from lagna, Ketu, Venus(AMATYAKARAKA),

Mars and Rahu(ATAM KARAKA)… Saturn is Lagna Lord as well as 12th

Lord

and Mercury is 5th Lord as well as 8th Lord) .. Right now I am going

thru double (career and financial) punishment due to Saturn/Mercury

(from moon) and Mercury/Saturn(from lagna) and could not ask for

more such punishments ever..the real surprise is that both

vimshottari dasa effects are true but the bad thing is both are

unwanted.

Well after the tremendous shocking turmoil in SJVC/SJC that we

witnessed during last several days, let us switch to some relevant

astrological topic. First of all, (although I am hardly any type of

political person, yet there are some things going on in my

mind..rather I learnt now…we all saw so shockingly how an

intelligent

western student totally disregards the instructions of the Guru,

which is something unthinkable and unpardonable in the indian/hindu

mind…) I will like to make few humble comments on the approach of

eastern and western students towards their teachers/gurus.

 

 

What I have learnt is that while we(Indians who were brought up in

India) have tremendous respect and some fear towards our

teachers/gurus right from childhood to College Days, yet the western

approach is not exactly same. Their attitude towards their teachers

is respectful only while the class is in progress and after the

class, they become extremely materialistic and have the least respect

for their teachers when compared to the eastern students. That does

not mean that they (westerners) do not respect their teacher outside

the class, but rather the respect level reduces to that which one has

for another fellow human being(which is also a shock for easterners).

Compared to this, we are taught in India, to maintain same high

respect for all our teachers (for all times), whether we are in final

year of high school or College. Rather say respect for the

teacher/guru is so deeply rooted in Indian mind that any sign of dis-

respect(even if shown unintentionally due to an accident or so)

causes tremendous amount of guilt feeling in us for several days and

weeks, until the teacher pardons us for such minor incidents. Even

then we maintain a self-punishing attitude for a long time until we

pass that class and move forward to next class. Dis-respect

immediately implies dis-obedience in our minds even for minor

incidents and we(being religious in general) get so scared of the

Gods getting angry at us(while in school/college days) that we

designate some hard mental punishments for our selves or go to a

temple to ask for forgiveness(so that Goddess Saraswati's wrath

does

not fall upon us and we are able to complete our education and get a

good job someday later) . I doubt that the western mind is ever

inclined to do so. May be they will simply appologize for bad

behaviour and walk away. In short there are lots of shocks due to

the cultural differences between eastern and western civilizations.

Of course western people are very hard working and sincere in

everything they do and they put tremendous amount of efforts all day

everywhere for every dollar that they earn(their karma is the most

impressive thing for eastern people).

 

This is not to say that we(in INDIA) do not have our very own

Duryodhanas and Dushashanas in India, who utilize their gurus for

their own materialistic objectives throughout their lives (and even

got their gurus killed as in Mahabharata battle). That's all I

have

to say. I sincerely hope that I have not offended anyone, since these

are after all my personal thoughts only(and please do not send any

hate mail to me as I do not hate anyone. I respect both eastern and

western cultures for their good things and try to avoid the negative

ones).

 

Well if there is still shortage of astrological topics, then may I

humbly suggest to please consider my previous mail below and please

give some comments …even a general idea regarding combining the

effects of various vimshottari dashas can be helpful, even if my

chart cannot be considered on this forum. This may help us all.

with sa conjoining, and sign aspects from ma & Ra.

This means a guru/Brahmin shapa.

Also in Navamsa, Ju is aspected by ma, Sa.

since i have Jh lite version 3.0 I do not have access

to moola dasha. This could give a clue. try to see

what are yoy running in moola dasha.

Since shri narasimha ji had also suggested that we

should peek in to moola dasa to determine the root

cause, I hope this should give a clue to your current

sufferings.

Yesterday we had our first study group here in Nj and

shri sanjay prabhakaran explained about the curses and

Moola dasa. it was an eye opener and it can really

unlock several mysteries.

It appears to me that you must be running Ma/ra/sa/ju

in your moola dasa. pls confirm with someone whao has

means to calculate moola dasa.

Many Thanks for your ideas and investigations. Actually I found

(after applying known rules for Moola dasa) that I am running

Mercury/Ketu period from 2/10/2002 to 8/30/2003 and then it will be

followed by Mercury/Venus from 8/30/2003 to 3/20/2005. Actually I am

still trying to interpret these amazing results. I used some rules

for computation of Moola dasa from my previous notes regarding moola

dasa calculations(which I found in a long forgotten archieve on my

hard disk. hope they are correct as given by Shri PVR Rao)...

Dear Lakshman, Well I am in a hurry. So I am simply copy-pasting Shri

Narasimha 's old articles that I found yesterday accidentally. Also

my own calculation needs corrections. Please note that this is not

any official version of Moola dasa....I could be completely wrong

here when calculating moola dasa based on these examples...(they are

definitely more rules to Moola dasa calculations..just find it and

please also let me know)here since this is all I

ARTCILE 1: Namaste friends,

 

Those who know me know that I stress the use of divisional charts,

special lagnas etc and give as examples twins who are totally

different.

 

However, in cases where the EXACT birthtime is unavailable, all these

fine techniques are useless. So elders teach approximate techniques

that

can be used with just rasi chart and sometimes without even knowing

lagna! Of course, these techniques cannot be completely relied upon,

but

that's the best we can do in some charts.

 

Saddam Hussein's birthdata is controversial. I am using "28th April

1937, 9:08 am (TZ 3:00E), 43e42, 34n36". The purpose of this article

is

to show the use of Moola dasa. Its computation was explained in a

previous article on vedic astrology list. Anyway, I will go through it

quickly again.

 

COMPUTATION:

 

Take the stronger of lagna, Sun and Moon. For strength, there are many

rules and use the rules I gave in my Narayana dasa lessons on

vedic astrology list. A sign with more planets in it is stronger.

Then,

a sign aspected/occupied by more planets out of (1) Jupiter, (2)

Mercury

and (3) its lord, is more powerful. Then an exalted planet or a planet

in own sign is more powerful. After all the rules are exhausted, we

look

at advancement in rasi and compare.

 

Debilitated Moon has 2 other planets with him and Chandra lagna (Moon

taken as a reference) is the strongest. Start dasas from there. Take

all

the planets in quadrants in the order of strength. Then go to

panapharas

and take all the planets in the order of strength. Then apoklimas.

Because Scorpio is even, panaparas and apoklimas are reckoned in the

reverse direction. So first take planets in Sc, Le, Ta, and Cp, then

those in Li, Cn, Ar and Cp, and then Vi, Ge, Pi and Sg.

 

Planets in Sc are stronger because there are 3 planets in Sc. Mars is

the stronest (own house). Then comes Rahu and then the debilitated

Moon.

Out of Mercury and Ketu in Taurus, Ketu is stronger as neither is in

own/exaltation sign and Ketu is more advanced in rasi (measured from

end) than Mercury (measured from start). Then we get Sun in Ar and

Jupiter in Cp. Both Ar and Cp have one planet each. So see the aspects

of Jupiter, Mercury and lord. Aries is aspected only by one (Mars).

Capricorn is occupied by Jupiter and aspected by Mercury and its count

of 2 beats that of Aries. So Jupiter dasa comes next. Next we get

exalted Sun's dasa. Finally we have Saturn and Venus in apoklimas (Vi,

Ge, Pi and Sg). Both are together and exalted Venus is stronger.

 

Dasa years, as taught by my guru Sanjay Rath, are measured as follows:

Count signs from the planet to his moolatrikona (Note: Moon's

moolatrikona is Taurus, as taught by Maharshi Parasara). Count in the

regular order always. Subtract one from the count. Add/subtract one if

the planet is exalted/debilitated. Now subtract this count from the

number of dasa years of that planet as per Vimsottari dasa. If the

result is negative, take its magnitude.

 

>From Mars to Ar, count is 6. So dasa years are 7-5=2 years. You can

find

all dasa years like this.

 

INTERPRETATION:

 

Just remember what I taught earlier. Natural significations of planets

play a prominent role in this dasa. Of course, Ketu can denote

imprisonment and terrorist activities or pilgrimages and spiritual

activities. Strength and placement in the chart matter, but the

natural

significations are more important. This dasa is useful for a quick and

general delineation.

 

He ran Mars and Rahu dasas till 1954 and Moon dasa till 1959.

Debilitated Moon is very close to Mars and he brought political

activities and conspiracies. Saddam joined Arab Baath Socialist party

in

1957 and he was involved in a conspiracy to assassinate President

Kassem. He was sentenced to death and put in prison in 1959. He ran

Ketu's 1-year dasa during 1959-1960. This dasa brought the sentence

and

imprisonment. Ketu can usually give imprisonment and IF the lagna

assumed here is correct, Ketu in the 12th house of imprisonment is

even

more likely to give imprisonment in an assassination conspiracy.

 

Mercury dasa ran during 1960-1973. This dasa gave intellectual

activities (he studied law). Mercury and Jupiter dasas usually bring

all-round success. Mercury is lagna lord here. He is in the

constellation of exalted Sun and he gave success in career. Mercury

dasa

was a great time. He became the vice president. Jupiter dasa was also

good.

 

Then came Sun's one-year dasa, during 1979-1980. Exalted Sun made him

Iraq's President during 1979.

 

Saturn dasa of 8 years (Aq is in 12th from Saturn, 12-1=11 and 19-

11=8)

ran in 1990s and it restrained Saddam. Elders say that exalted

Saturn's

Moola dasa gave 14 years of vana vaasa (exile in forests) to Lord

Rama.

[Note: From Libra, Aq is 5th and (19-(5-1+1)=14).]

 

Usually Saturn's Moola dasa is rough. So 1992-2000 has been a time of

lying low for Hussein.

 

ASSUMING that this chart is correct and that Moola dasa from Moon

works

in this chart, what may we expect next?

 

In April 2000, Saddam will finish the unfavorable Saturn dasa and

start

Mars dasa again. Mars is in own sign. This dasa will run from April

2000

to April 2005 (Note: In the first cycle, Mars dasa was 2 years. In the

second cycle, it will be 7-2=5 years, so that the total is 7 years.

After two cycles, 120 years should be over).

 

US once wanted to try to dethrone this dictator. If they can't do it

by

next April, they may not be able to do it later. Mars dasa may see a

vengeful Saddam taking aggressive steps against enemies. If Saddam

remains in power after next April, he may not sit idle. However, he is

susceptible until Saturn dasa ends in next April.

 

[DISCLAIMERS: In my limited experiments, this dasa seems very

promising

for a quick delineation. However, more research is needed. Also, rasi

chart cannot be relied on. Moreover, the birthtime and birthdate here

are controversial.]

While I am in the mood, I will give another example. Those

already overwhelmed with Sudasa and Drig dasa can save this and

read later.

 

I gave the calculation of Moola dasa in some old posts and gave 2

or 3 examples. Here is another example. For calculation rules,

please refer to old articles.

Moola dasa is excellent for a quick delineation of life phases.

It is applicable to everyone. It is undoubtedly the best "graha

dasa" (planet dasa) that I know. Simplistic principles like

natural malefics giving troubles, natural benefics giving good

results work in reality here. Also, natural significations of

planets matter a lot. For example, Sun's dasa and antardasas

bring power to politicians. Saturn dasa brings exile, frustration

and bad luck. And so on.

 

I may give more examples later to clarify the computation and

interpretation. Without any doubt, it is one of the very best

dasas I know. This is a very special system. Even in Narayana

dasa and Kalachakra dasa, sometimes things are not very clear.

But interpretation of Moola dasa is very straightforward.

BIRTHDATA: 12 Dec 1940, 6:35 am (IST), 74e35, 18n9

 

RASI CHART: Moon, Jupiter & Saturn in Ar; Rahu in Vi; Mars &

Venus in Li; lagna, Sun & Mercury in Sc; Ketu in Pi.

 

BACKGROUND: Sharad Pawar is a prominent political leader in

India. In 1967, he became an MLA (state legislator) for the first

time. He was the CM (Chief Minister) of his state during

1978-1980. He was in opposition for sometime and became very

strong and popular in mid-1980s. He became CM again during

1988-1991. When Congress came to power in 1991 after Rajiv

Gandhi's assassination, he was widely expected to be the Prime

Minister of India!! But he had powerful rivals. As a temporary

solution, scholar and old fox P.V. Narasimha Rao was installed as

PM. Pawar became a cabinet minister at centre and lost his sway

in his state. Gradually Rao strengthened his hold and cut the

wings of Pawar. Pawar continued to be a force, but his career

slowed down. In May 1999, he came out of the Congress party

expressing opposition to a foreigner becoming India's PM and

formed own party. His party got some seats at the hustings, but

far below expectations. Congress is in power in his state and his

worst detractors are being promoted. The worst thing is that he

is in a bind to extend his party's support to them!!

DASA SEQUENCE:

 

(1) Find the stronger of lagna, Moon and Sun. Moon is stronger

with Jupiter and neecha bhanga Saturn. Ar is the starting

reference.

 

(2) Moon is in Ar, an odd sign. So we progress forward. Quadrants

are Ar, Cn, Li and Cp. Panaparas are Ta, Le, Sc and Aq. Apoklimas

are Ge, Vi, Sg and Pi.

 

(3) First, dasas of planets in quadrants: Ar is the strongest

quadrant with 3 planets and then Li with 2. Out of the 3 planets

in Ar, Moon is the strongest. Then Jupiter and then debilitated

Saturn. Out of the 2 planets in Li, Venus is stronger.

 

(4) Then dasas of planets in panapharas: Only Sc has planets. Sun

is stronger than Mercury.

 

(5) Then dasas of planets in apoklimas: Rahu and Ketu. Ketu is

stronger because he is in Pi and Pi's lord is an odd sign (Pi is

even). Vi, OTOH, is an even sign and its lord is also in an even

sign.

 

(6) So the dasa sequence is: Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars

(quadrants); Sun, Mercury (panapharas); Ketu, Rahu (apoklimas).

 

DASA LENGTHS:

 

(1) From Moon in Ar, his moolatrikona Ta is 2nd. We get 2-1=1.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Moon's Vimsottari

dasa years, we get 10-1=9 years. 1940-1949.

 

(2) From Jupiter in Ar, his moolatrikona Sg is 9th. We get 9-1=8.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Jupiter's

Vimsottari dasa years, we get 16-8=8 years. 1949-1957.

 

(3) From Saturn in Ar, his moolatrikona Aq is 11th. We get

11-1-1=9 (subtract an extra 1 year for debilitation). Subtracting

this "moolatrikona correction" from Saturn's Vimsottari dasa

years, we get 19-9=10 years. 1957-1967.

 

(4) From Venus in Li, his moolatrikona Li is 1st. We get 1-1=0.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Venus's

Vimsottari dasa years, we get 20-0=20 years. 1967-1987.

 

(5) From Mars in Li, his moolatrikona Ar is 7th. We get 7-1=6.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Mars's Vimsottari

dasa years, we get 7-6=1 years. 1987-1988.

 

(6) From Sun in Sc, his moolatrikona Le is 10th. We get 10-1=9.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Sun's Vimsottari

dasa years, we get 6-9 = -3 years = 3 years (after ignoring sign,

i.e. finding the magnitude/modulus). 1988-1991.

 

(7) From Mercury in Sc, his moolatrikona Vi is 11th. We get

11-1=10. Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from

Mercury's Vimsottari dasa years, we get 17-10=7 years. 1991-1998.

 

(8) From Ketu in Pi, his own sign Sc is 9th. We get 9-1=8.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Ketu's Vimsottari

dasa years, we get 7-8 = -1 years = 1 year (after ignoring sign,

i.e. finding the magnitude/modulus). 1998-1999.

 

(9) From Rahu in Vi, his own sign Aq is 6th. We get 6-1=5.

Subtracting this "moolatrikona correction" from Rahu's Vimsottari

dasa years, we get 18-5=13 years. 1999-2012.

INTERPRETATION:

 

(1) You can note that Venus dasa brought luck. Saturn dasa during

1957-1967 may have made him struggle. But Venus dasa saw

progress.

 

Usually we find that Sun dasa brings the peak of one's political

power or a sudden rise and Venus dasa is also good for a

political career. We see a prominent Venus moola dasa for many

politicians. Venus is a diplomatic and *rajasik* planet.

 

(2) Sun dasa ran during 1988-1991. That's *exactly* when he was

the Chief Minister of his state!!! It helped that Sun owned 10th

and occupied 1st, w.r.t. lagna an ghati lagna (GL).

 

(3) Mercury dasa wasn't bad, but Mercury is a mixed planet here

(a natural malefic here and also a functional malefic). Pawar

wasn't allowed to grow in size.

 

Mercury dasa usually bringd intellectual activities and laurels

(perhaps not true for Pawar). It also brings diplomatic

connections with too many people/groups (true with Pawar in this

period - he was hobnobbing with too many groups! Mercury gives

it).

 

Mercury's moola dasa can also bring vacillation and indecision

when Mercury is not good in a chart. This is true with Pawar's

Mercury dasa. [Note: Pay more attention to inherent natures of

planets when interpreting Moola dasa!]

 

(4) He is left to face Rahu and Ketu dasas and it is likely that

he is past his best. Some astrologers are predicting that he will

be the next Prime Minister, but his Moola dasa doesn't suggest

that.

SUN DASA:

 

I said a few days back that Sun dasa as per Moola dasa is a great

candidate for bringing political power. You can find that to be

true here. He became CM during Sun dasa and became a prominent

leader.

 

You may ask: Why was a CM in 1978-1980 also?

 

Reason 1: Venus dasa is also good. Reason 2: Find antardasas!

SUN ANTARDASA IN VENUS DASA:

 

Just as we started with the reference of Moon, we take dasa lord

as the reference and find antardasa sequence. In Venus dasa,

antardasa sequence is the same as the dasa sequence. Each

antaradasa has an equal length (20/9 years = 2 years 2 2/3

months).

 

Sun dasa of 2 yr 2 2/3 mo comes after 5 antardasas, i.e. 11 yrs.

Adding this to the start of Venus dasa (1967), we get that he ran

Sun antardasa during 1978-1980! That's again exactly when he was

the CM!

PROGNOSTICATION:

 

Sharad Pawar's best is behind him! Indian politics is

increasingly bi-polar and his attempts to form a third front may

be doomed. If Priyanka Gandhi enters active politics and revives

the dynastic Congress party, his chances are more doomed. Though

some astrologers predict that he will become PM oneday, I don't

foresee it. When Gowdas and Gujrals were having an easy go at the

PM chair, Pawar was sleeping in the dormant Congress party. He

woke up too late. Rahu may give him bad moves and frustration.

 

The best phase within the 13-year Rahu dasa may come during Sun

antardasa.

SUN ANTARDASA IN RAHU DASA:

 

Just as we started with the reference of Moon, we take dasa lord

as the reference and find antardasa sequence. In Rahu dasa,

antardasa sequence is found based on quadrants, panapars and

apoklimas w.r.t. Virgo. Virgo is even and we go backwards. So we

get Rahu, Ketu; Sun, Mercury; Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars.

 

Each antaradasa has an equal length (13/9 years = 1 years 5 1/3

months). The 3rd antardasa of Sun starts after about 3 years from

the start of Rahu dasa. So 2001 and 2002 may present some

opportunities to him. That is his best chance.

 

BTW, you can check that Sudasa of the 7th from GL ran during

1984-1989, when he became a prominent leader.
