Guest guest
As-Salaam-Aliakum Fayyaz, This is an interesting Question, to be sure, one that will, as usual, get me into quite a bit of trouble. But, I will do what I can to answer it. The classical method, when it comes to calculating Vimshottari or Yogini Dasa, is to take the exact position of the Moon in the chart and to use that as the primary reckoning point. Parasara does give a provision in his immortal work, Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, that one can use the Asc if it is stronger than the Moon. So, he does recognize the importance, at least in theory, of the the use of the Asc. I came accross a principle that is not mentioned in the works on the subject of Jyotish, classical or modern; it hails from the many unwritten traditions that emanate in India, that are passed down family to family, from teacher to student. From this tradition, one of many, I learned that one can take the Asc position and use that in the reckoning of Vimshottari and Yogini Dasa. In fact, I learned that one can take any planet and do it, but that the Asc seems to yield the most results. The reasons for this are simple. The Asc is the single most important factor in ANY chart; it is the basis upon which the entire chart is based; without it, we cannot know exactly where the planets are by house position. It is the point that differentiates the many charts that can be cast in a day. And, of course, the Asc changing by degree and/or sign will vastly change the Varga charts that can be made on the basis of the Rasi chart. For nearly the past 4 years, I have intensely worked with the idea of reckoning Vimshottari and Yogini Dasa from the Asc, and I have had awesome results. It has greatly helped in the process of rectification, where the search for the Asc is the single key factor, and it has greatly sharpened the focus of my predictions as well. It is something that I stand on, without fear of retribution of contradiction. Try it for yourself.
