Dear Sarajit,

I am only an expert in grammar and know what is one word and what is two

words. When it comes to deciding what is the best seat for a devata, I am

not that much of an expert.

You may be right. The 8th house may be good for Shiva. Then read the

panchakshari mantra as "namah shivaaya" (as two words, so that the devata

sthana is in 8th). If, on the contrary, you think that the 9th house is a

good seat, read the panchakshari mantra as "namashshivaaya" (as one word,

after sandhi, so that the devata sthana is in 9th).

My take on it is that this is not a mantra for Rudra. This is a mantra for

Shiva, the ultimate Guru of the universe. If the ultimate Guru of the

universe is seated in the 9th house of guidance and guides all the energies

of self (1st) to bring scholarship and abilities (5th), it resonates well to

me.

If you disagree, you are free to pronounce the panchakshari (five-lettered)

mantra without sandhi.

BTW, I am glad you agree on "om namobhagavate vaasudevaaya".

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha
