Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Mayapur prabhu, Hare Krishna. Maharishi Parashara lists the lords of the days when he speaks about shadbala. He says that the 7 natural planets are lords of the days in repeating order. The forst day of creation wqas Sunday, ans the Sun is the source of all the planets' strength. So if you notice, the order of the weekdays and day lords is common in all cultures and all agree that it is Sunday today for example. So it is counted from the beginning of creation and oin this basis Vaara Bala, Hora Bala, Maasa Bala and Abda Bala are calculated. Yours, Gauranga das - "Mayapur (das) SDHS (IN)" <Mayapur.SDHS "Gauranga Das" <gauranga Sunday, January 05, 2003 3:34 AM Weekdays Dear Gauranga Prabhu, Please accept my humble obeisances. *·*All glories to Srila Prabhupada!*·* Could you please help me and answer this question ?I don't know what to answer... Your servant, Mayapur das Weekdays --------------------------- For instance, the Jews say that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh - and that is why we follow a system of seven days making a week. So maybe we have a specific quote as to why Parasara measured in seven days? That is what I am interested in finding. Or is it just that seven goes four times into the lunar month? And what about the names for the days of the week - were they named back then too? Message ------
