Guest guest
Hare Krishna Dear Khayam "Yoga" is a union or a bonding together- When a planet owns an angle(kendra) and a trine it becomes powerful to give results- FOr example for libra rising persons ,Sat owns the 4,5th houses, (as his own signs are capricorn and aquarious) for tauraus rising persons Sat owns 9th,10th houses. So in both these cases Sat becomes capable of giving raja yogas.etc Of course, depending on where Sat is placed will determine how/when it will manifest.Hope that helps - Lakshmi devi vedic astrology, Khayam Mayock <kmayock> wrote: > Dear gurus and members, > > I am new to Jyotish and I am wondering, what is meant by the term "yoga > karaka"? > > Thank you. > > Regards, > Khayam > > > > Mail Plus - Powerful. Guest guest
If you are going to understand the true literal meaning of these term then its a really tough task, as, many of the vedic terminologies happen multimeanings. "Yoga" means union, concentration on Supereme results in one's union with the universal spirit. It is also one of the six darshan or school of vedic philosophy. In predictive astrology yoga stands for planetary combinations (e.g. placement, aspect, parivartan etc.) which have effects on us either good or bad. There are hundreds of thousands of different types of astrological yogas. e.g. Chanra Yoga, Surya Yoga, Panch Maha Purush Yoag, Raja Yoga, Dhan Yoga etc. Karaka refers to "significator" or "causitive element", thus "Yoga Karaka" means a planet which is a significator of producing yoga. A planet acquire special significance when it lords kendar(1,4,7,10) and trikona(1,5,9) bhavas or some time benefic houses. like; for Cancer ascendant Mars holds the lordship of 5th and 10th house, therefore it nominates Yoga Karaka for Cancerian native. And this Mars if associates either with lagna lord Moon or lagn will create auspiciousness and its Dasa will yield good results. Similarly for Taurus and Libra lagna, Saturn lords kendar and trikoon bhavas, so it attains special position. Whereas for Capricorn and Aquarius lagna, Venus holds the lordship of 5th+10th and 4th+9th respectively. So Venus play consideralble role if well placed and having connection with lagna lord Saturn. The list of yoga karak for 12 ascendats are not universal, but you may it any essential book. In some books you find no yoga karaka for Aries ascendant. So at this occasion 9th lord alternately play the role of yoga karaka. Hope this will remove the doubts Regards M.Imran Khayam Mayock <kmayock > wrote: Dear gurus and members,I am new to Jyotish and I am wondering, what is meant by the term "yogakaraka"?Thank you.Regards,KhayamDo you ? Guest guest
Dear M. Imran, Thank you very much for your kind exposition. It sounds like there is only one yoga karaka per chart-- I didn't realize it worked this way. In my own rasi chart I have Mars in the ninth in six degrees of Aries, so it rules both the ninth and the fourth (Scorpio). So I think that makes it a yoga karaka. Mars also aspects the lord of the lagna sun which is debilitated in Libra in the third. Since sun and mars are friends, it seems that (to judge only from the rasi chart) these are two planets which could be strengthened to good effect. In the navamsa Sun is in the 9th in Aquarius and Mars is in the 12th in Taurus, although I'm not sure how to interpret the navamsa. My birth info is Oct 31, 1973 Scranton, PA, USA at 1:07 am EST. Long 75W39, Lat 41N24. I have a sense of how prayer and mantras and good deeds can serve as remedies, but wearing a gemstone seems to be a different kind of a remedy. Based on spiritual teachings I know that performing certain actions can change a person's karma somewhat, (perhaps with more effect in future lifetimes than in the current lifetime, which is somewhat fixed), but wearing a gemstone, if it is as effective as it is said to be, seems relatively easier by comparision, if you know what I mean. Can one of the learned members shed some light on this for me? Perhaps a gemstone affects how the karmas come to fruit in the current lifetime... maybe the only way for a person to know is to try using a gemstone personally! So I presume that a gemstone for either Mars or Sun would be indicated based on my chart, but I would welcome comment from someone with more expertise than me.
