Guest guest
I myself wanted to reply to the question, but refrained from doing so, since I usually end up writing long articles that are time consuming. Why don't you delve deeper on this using Jaimini sutras as well as standard principles of Jyotish and write a full length article? It would be interesting as well as helpful to all. Narayan. I read your article in the Vargas book. It was very enjoyable. The past two years have seen your writing style improve very well. Good going. Narayan wrote: Jupiter in Swamsa makes a Karma Yogi who will excel in all field due to his own intelligence or one interested in philosophy and religion or priest. The Moon in 1st/5th gives knowledge of Sankhya & Yoga philosophies besides history( Rhetoric & Music) or produces a Singer. Samkhya is a dualistic philosophy that believes in the coexistent and interdependent realities, conscious Purusha and unconscious Prakrti. Samkhya philosophy explains the dynamics of the body and nature of mind. Yoga studies all aspects of human personality and teaches one how to control the modifications of the mind through practice of meditation and detachment and surrender to higher consciousness. Practicality is the main feature of this system. Satya's reply: I have both the above combinations (as per Jaimini)in my chart . And interestingly I had been very attracted by Samkhya and Yoga, esp Samkhya more than anything. To this day the two terms Purusha and Prakriti pull me so much. It is only that I substitute them for more popular terms like Shiva and Shakti. But deep within, Shiva and Shakti are to me what Purusha and Prakriti are to a strict Samkhya vadin. Interested in philosophy and religion- Yes philosophy is my soul, my love, my strength. Singing- This point is very interesting. Some years back when I learnt Jaimini basics, I wondered if this could be not applicable to me. But over the years my interests did pull me to musicology too. I not only won a few prizes for singing (that too classical!), last year I ended up composing (!) three albums, two related to the planets and elements and one for hindi pop. All this was done on a commercial basis! And this is not my main line or field! And some music scholars who heard the pre-release albums on the grahas and elements rated the work very highly. This work was based on classical music (mostly pure ragas without any accidental notes except for the nodes which was done deliberately), but the choice of instrumentation and style of rendering is more modern and like fusion. They are all to be released this year. It is hard for me to be restricted to any single school of Indian philosophy. Those who read my articles may only recognise the affiliation to Advaita. But deep within mine is a mix of Samkhya and Advaita (or rather the Samkhya version of Advaita) , with streaks of what can be called Deconstructive logic (but I used such tactics in my own way even before I ever read Derrida, probably under the influence of Buddhism or JK). So this is my feedback from my chart and life. Satya Movies - What's on at your local cinema?
