Guest guest
Dear Learned members: Sanjay had given me a mantra to worship Uchhista Ganapati; however, I don't know what the mantra means,i.e. I'm chanting this mantra 108 times daily without knowing what am I saying to Ganapati. I do know a little Sanskrit, but can't translate this mantra, can someone please post an English transalation of this mantra?? Here's the mantra: "Om Hreye Gaye Hasti Pisachi Likhe Svaha!" Thank you. Here's the mantra: > > "Om Hreye Gaye Hasti Pisachi Likhe Svaha!" > > Thank you. As far as my knowledge of Sanskrit goes, it is as follows: Om Take away, and sing, Pisachi (female demon or witch) while tearing (or writing) with your hands, I offer myself to you! OM - precursor, or beeja mantra for the Devata HREYE - from the root hri, to take away, destroy GAYE - from the root gay, to sing HASTI - hand, with hands PISACHI - female demonness, rakshasi LIKHE - from the root likh, to scratch, tear or write SWAHA - samput of the mantra, meaning 'I offer myself completely' I may be incorrect, so anyone with a better knowledge of Sanskrit please correct me. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Hi the only time we have to be careful while translating the meaning of sanskrit words is with COMPOUNDS.. if the mantra did not have compounds then the meaning is the meaning of each word. vedic astrology, Gauranga Das <gauranga@b...> wrote: > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Mukund, > > Namaste. > > > > Dear Learned members: > > > > Sanjay had given me a mantra to worship Uchhista Ganapati; however, I > > don't know what the mantra means,i.e. I'm chanting this mantra 108 > > times daily without knowing what am I saying to Ganapati. Guest guest
Sir: Thank you for taking the time to translate this. Now, I get it--this is supposed to be a tantrik mantra and the translation fits the purpose.
