Guest guest
Hi all, Recently I came across the work of Lal Kitab for the first time. I never heard of this astrological text before. From what I have read it seems like Lal Kitab is based on the Parashara minus the concept of signs. To read further on Lal Kitab, please visit this web site www.mailerindia.com. Now, since I have no idea about how genuine Lal Kitab is, can the Gurus on this list say something in this regard please? Namaste, Rageshwari. Guest guest
Namaste, Lal Kitab has become a debatable topic amongst astrologers. The origion of Lal Kitab (The Red Book) is not known yet. Some say that many centuries ago a hindu sage/rishi well versed in Tantra and Astrology, compiled these rules and wrote them on a hide. After invasion of Afghan and Arabs on India this work was destroyed and then it again come into existance in Urdu from Persia. During 20th century it appeared in Urdu language and got fame due to its some ready-made remedies. Lal Kitab is a combination of three-fold subjects, viz; Astrology, Palmistry and Remedies. But many peoples think that it is only a manual of remedies, which is not true indeed. As far as the "Remedial Measures" of Lal Kitab are concern, many learned astrologers hold that one should not go with these remedies due to thier "Tamasik" attribute. Sanjay Rath and his students too have same opinion. I have a six decades old edition of Lal Kitab (in Urdu), compiled by Pandit Gardhari Lal Sharma of Jalandhar. The book contians quite philospphical touch and a mixure of Astrological combination (in poetic form), Palmistry combination and the remedies of bad planetary combination and about daily life problems. I personaly think that the remedies of Lal Kitab contain some "Tantrik" influence. But what to do with Astrological combinations and Palmistry lessons. Are they tamasik also? Remedies can be Tamasik but how palmistry and astrological combination seem Tama. I raised this question few months latter on this forum but did not find suffcient answer. I still want to know that what is the place of Astrological and Palmistry principles lay down in Lal Kitab. Guest guest
Dear Friend, Actually, when the Arabs first invaded India a couple of times during 600-800 CE, they didn't destroy too much. What they did was absorb culture. They took back everything that was written in Sanskrit and translated them into Arab. They were very much fascinated with the new knowledge, and in fact brought with them to Arab the great knowledgeable people from India one of whom was the great Kanaka. This is how much of the Indian knowledge was transferred to the Arabs and then further to the west which includes the numerical system. At that time there was a drive to gain knowledge and the with the knowledge gained from India arose great people such as Al kwarizmi and Omar Khayyam who was not only a poet but a great astronomer.
