You are right, my grandfather was a strict Christian (though not very spiritual). He disapproved of my search for the truth elsewhere. You are also right, in a way, about the detective ability ... my family and students would agree. At university my radiography and archaeology skills were called on for forensic purposes. But we have to surmise that these are related to Patanjali's ideas in the Yoga Sutras, such as clairvoyance, knowing the past, present,and future. In another context, the siddhis could also relate to the seven levels of consciousness, the highest of which is the attainment of Unity Consciousness. From the literature, a person who reaches UC is able to perceive the values of the observed and the observer to be the same. In other words, he is a person who sees everything to be a part of his Self.
