Dear PVRji,

Your prediction on general trend of stock market has been fairly

accurate. I wish you allocate some time off your busy schedule for

mundane astrology aswell.

We are recently hearing lots of terrible predictions about USA,

economy, war, Bush (both Jr and Sr). Do you have anything to add?

What would be the state of the telecom industry for the near and

medium term?

Thanks,

Siva.

Honestly, my overall record in mundane astrology hasn't been satisfactory to

me. While I am quite happy with my knowledge of individual horoscopy, it's

clear to me that my knowledge of mundane astrology is quite incomplete.

The lunar and solar new year charts (both new Moon as well as Full Moon

charts and solar ingress charts into Aries as well as Capricorn) work ok,

but don't result in consistent explanations when I look at a big sample

space (i.e. results of several past years). I cannot explain several things

without beating around the bush. As a result, I am not very confident of

these techniques to make predictions based just on them.

I will give some predictions in the rest of this article based on techniques

on which I have a slightly higher confidence level, but do take them with a

pinch of salt.

For financial predictions, I am now inclined to think that the compressed

Vimsottari dasa of Libra New Moon chart (Diwali chart) is the right one. But

when predicting ups in Jupiter dasa in USA's 2002-03 chart, I only

considered Jupiter's exaltation in rasi and missed his debilitation in

navamsa. As a result, that dasa (Nov 11-Dec 27, 2002) wasn't as good as I

expected. It started well, but ended poorly.

I predicted current Saturn dasa (Dec 27, 2002-Feb 19, 2003) to be bad.

Though Saturn has comparable ishta and kashta phalas, he is a functional

malefic and occupies the 8th house from AL. No wonder this dasa has been

quite bad.

Next dasa is of Mercury (Feb 19-Apr 10, 2003). Mercury is 4th and 7th lord

from Pisces lagna in USA's Libra New Moon chart of Nov 4, 2002. He is a

functional malefic (but better than Saturn). His ishta and kashta phalas are

comparable. However, Mercury is combust and in the 12th from AL. His dasa is

not likely to be good. Combustion of 7th lord Mercury by 6th lord Sun may

show that the war (6th) makes the relations with other nations suffer and

the markets suffer as a result in Mercury dasa. Overall, this period is

likely to be neutral to bad (more towards bad).

It is the next dasa of Ketu during Apr 10-May 1 that I have my hopes

centered on. Ketu is the 9th lord, i.e. a functional benefic. He is the lord

of AL placed in AL. So April is likely to be good. I am waiting for April

10.

As far as the Iraq war is concerned, I don't think it can be avoided. Four

years back, I was expecting the seed of a world war in mid-2000 (I went

wrong). My father Sri P.V.Subrahmanyachalapathi Rao, a great astrologer

blessed with unmatched intuition, told me that I would go wrong. He told me

that Rahu's transit near the Rohini-Krittika boundary would bring a war and

that Rahu's transit in Krittika would be destabilizing for the world. Right

now, Rahu is racing towards the beginning of Rohini and will enter Krittika

towards the end of this month. My father told me several years back about a

war in this period!

I don't have confidence in lunar and solar new year charts for predicting

political events. I don't have the natal chart of USA (which is a matter of

great controversy). So I can only rely on US president George W Bush's

chart. I will analyze his chart in a separate post.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha
