Guest guest
The sidereal year is the time taken for the Earth to move around its orbit to the same direction in space, as seen from the Sun (or it would be, if the orbit plane remained fixed). The anomalistic year is the period from perihelion to perihelion. (The "anomaly" is the angular distance the planet has moved around its orbit, measured from the perihelion point.) The tropical year is the interval between vernal equinoxes, and is quite a bit different from the others because of the luni-solar precession (i.e., the change in the orientation of the plane of the equator).
