Guest guest
Dear All I trying to resolve the mystry about the vedic astrology and remedies. As remedies people recomend are usually from Puranas or some even rationalize it to modern day tecnology and way outs. The astrology is vedic and its remedies part is Puranic. Why is it so? Or is it that at vedic times people have no problems or people had enough strength to sustain the destiny. Later from Purans time people started loosing faith in themselves and hence remedies part was introduced in astrology. Another thing I wonder is that how can a person practising remedies to other people problems rationalize to modern day times? How can you suggest that mint in the start and end of your office? Is there any guide line to follow for remedy telling? If there is none then whole excercise of telling remedy can be doubted. I myself tell many people many things which I have collected from my family. But I do not tell them as an astrologer. It is just that I know i tell them to do if they feel like doing it. But I am sure there must be some basic text about remedies. It was just what I wanted to write after reading many post. Thanks for your Time and Space. Guest guest
Dear Amol*, I nearly died laughing while reading this mssg. You have touched most sensitive nerve of Vedic Astrologers. Remedies is an interesting phenomenon invented by primitive mind of human beings still active in the socalled civilized man... I would like to suggest you to go through the following books: o Medicine Magic and Religion by W. H. R. Rivers o A General Theory of Magic by Marcel Mauss o Hidden Truths - Magic, Alchemy and the Occult - Lawrence E. Sullivan (Ed) o Religion Explained - by Pascal Boyer These books are scholarly works of great anthropologists. They explain in detail why we human being believe in remedies, rituals and anything that comes under the lable "religion". By the way, the oldest Indian scripyure which recommends remedies is Atharva Veda which is not considered as Veda by Sanskrit scholars!!
