Guest guest
Dear Shri. Rath, Thx for your message. I am very happy that you have shown interest in midpoint astrology. I will be most happy to answer based on whatever I know. Just to begin with - personal points are those points which make a chart unique, i.e, Ascendent (lagna), Midheaven (dasham bhava arambha), Descendent (saptama bhava), and IC (chaturtha bhava arambha). There are some more personal points. They are East Point, vertex, Co-ascendents and Polar Asc ( but I dont use them). The basic premise of the midpoint astrology is that the planetary enegries are fused at points midway between two planets. So if Sun is 0 Aries and Moon is 0 Libra then the Sun and Moon midpoint is formed at 0 Cancer and 0 Capricorn. The midpoint of Sun and Moon is written as Sun|Moon which is referred relationship axis. Invariably any outer planet (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) making a contact ( conjunction, oppostion, square, semi-sqaure, sesquisquare) with Sun|Moon midpoint indicate relationship problems. In simple words the marriage under goes acid test for these natives... In midpoint astrology, signs are NOT used in the interpretation. They are calculated and used for refering to the postions of the midpoints. If you search net on the key words - Reinhold Ebrtin, 90 degree dial, midpoint astrology then you will find more information. "Combination of Steller Influences" by Reinhold Ebertin is bible in midpoint interpretation. It is popularly known as COSI. I hope this helps to trigger your interest further in midpoint astrology... What are personal points? Is this the Lagna sphuta. What do you use for dasama bhava sphuta? The tropical zodiac at best, can be used to predict natural events like rainfall or weather as per one reading of the Vishnu Purana. I don't think this applies to manushya jatak (human births). The tropical zodiac is used by those who did not know that the solar system also revolves around a center called Visnhu nabhi (others call it Brahma nabhi) causing the ayanamsa. Guest guest
Dear Shri Rath, The Midpoint astrology uses 8th harmonic extensively. Harmonic astrology is the branch of astrology that extends the aspects, and more recently the signs and houses beyond the threshold of the factors of 12. Traditional western astrology uses 6 basic aspects, the divisions of the wheel into twelfths, sixths, fourths, thirds, halves and wholes to paint its picture of the human psyche and the human condition. Harmonic astrology uses these and adds other integer divisions as well. The system I use distinguishes all integer divisions through 24. All fractions having a denominator of 24 and below producing 180 aspects altogether. The harmonic families are based upon prime numbers, as follows: 1,2,3,5,7,11,13. The fact that harmonic natures are derived from a handful of prime numbers means that to use the 180 aspects of a twenty-fourth harmonic set, one need learn only four "new" families of aspects. A "harmonic series" is a set of aspects within one harmonic family (like the five family) that also share the same denominator (such as the 15 series). Within each harmonic family, there may be more than one harmonic "series," such as the 9 series is a part of the third harmonic family. This is a secondary level of detail that can be mastered over time. Because harmonic astrology goes back to the ancient mathematical roots of divinatory systems, it is able to find explanations for things that have just become accepted practices in astrology, and make them more useful. For example, which orbs to use when, how planets combine into planetary pictures, why do Arabian parts and anti-scions work? Why are midpoints sometimes an extremely powerful technique, and other times quite disappointing? Harmonic astrology goes back to the mathematical thinking that was used when astrological thought was first formulated and recorded, and thinks it through again for a computer age, adding precision and accuracy. The "harmonic" in "harmonic astrology" comes from the fact that harmonic astrology explicitly uses acoustic metaphors as one of its means of understanding how astrology works. When you divide a string, even one stretched around a spherical instrument, as the ecliptic is figuratively stretched around the earth, the tones produced will have a relationship to the original tone. The fundamental tone is the conjunction. It is the basis of all of the other aspects and contains within itself all the symbolism that can be expressed by a chart or by a person. The conjunction is the beginning and the ending. It is the moment of simultaneous fullness and emptiness. The written interpretations of the various combinations of planets and chart factors come originally from the literature of astrology which originates in the Sumerian 'farmer almanacs' of which there are several examples dating from 1600 B.C. The process since then and continuing to the present day is to study, observe, and adjust the recorded information of the scholars of the past to more accurately reflect the life and times of the present. Much of the combinations of three planets come from the work of the Arabic and Hindu astrologers. The "Witte definitions" are not those of Witte alone. There were many many many students involved in the experimentation and creation and discovery and development of the hypothetical "Uranian" planets. To begin with, Alfred Witte never wrote a single line about Pluto, Apollon, Admetos, Vulcanus, or Poseidon. Witte did not want any of the planets of Sieggruen to be used at all. Witte managed a group of scholars among them Frederich Sieggruen, Hans Niggemann, Herman Lefeldt. Harmonic astrology, despite the fact that it reaches back to the beginnings of astrology, is still a place where the astrologer can find a frontier in astrological thought. Just as Western musicians are just beginning to discover the possibilities with their expanded palette, western astrologers are just beginning to learn their way around in this new territory. I guess that's what attracts me most about harmonic astrology, why I never seem to tire of learning more - it's a part of the practice of astrology where new contributions and discoveries are still being made.
