Hi,

Found this on another list:

Strange Solar Eclipse on May 31

More information on this Phenomena

http://www.space.com/spacewatch/annular_eclipse_030523.html

A partial eclipse of the Sun surrounded by strange circumstances is on tap

for

Saturday, May 31 and will be visible in parts of North America, Europe and

the

Middle East. The event could be quite spectacular at sunrise in Europe,

especially in the United Kingdom.

Strange track

The extreme northern track of the Moon's shadow will likely make this one

of

the most unusual solar eclipses that will occur in the 21st century.

Here's why:

The antumbra or negative shadow of the Moon - from where the annular phase

of

eclipse is visible - will strike the Earth at a very oblique angle. In

fact,

the shadow will actually pass above the North Pole and a bit beyond it

before

it finally makes contact with the Earth's surface. As a result of this

extraordinary geometry, the antumbra appears to graze the Earth's surface

resulting in a broad, semicircular region that will experience the "ring

of

fire" effect.

Also, because of this unusual circumstance, instead of moving in a typical

west-to-east fashion, as is the case with most solar eclipses, the

shadow's

movement will actually run in reverse - from east to west.

Jaya JagannathDear Jyotisha,

I think such unusual eclipse is happening as the declination of Sun is near +

21deg, i.e. Sun is a little below the tropic of cancer. Please share your

opinions.

Dear Sarajitji,

Does Solar Eclipses or eclipses have major bearing on ones life in

terms of events. Do these eclipses trigger personal and national

events.

If true Of what nature are these, is some pooja to be performed to

ward off any evil effects.

Best wishes,

According to my ephemeris (done by Bill Levacy) the eclipse begins Eastern time

at 9:47 PM, the middle of the eclipse is at 12:09 AM and it ends at 2:31 AM.

Hope that helps - Central time should be back by just an hour I believe.

Dear Sunil,

Yes, eclipse does effect the native's and I am in a process of unraveling

it. However, as Sanjayji says, Hari's name is the best during that time.

Dear Sarajiti,

Thanks for your letter. Pls do let us know when you unravelll the

effects of the eclipse. I have noticed from the last few yrs some

significant change/major event in life of natives after the eclipse

but have no astrological theory to back it up or any statistical

research.

Thanks once again.

Best wishes
