Dear Rosemary,

i understand that the message from you is straight from your heart. You have

stated that both the husband and wife should respond/share the responisbility.

Herein comes the role of Upapada. If you now study the importance of upapada

you will definitely appreciate the superior intelligence of the great sages.

Upapada is arudha of 12th house defined by its lord. What does the 12th

signify? It reminds the individual of his/her source(past) which induces the

spirit of motherliness(dharma of giving without any expectation). It brings out

that quality of caring for the other. The ego is made to bend. That's why

Upapada match is considered very important in match making as it speaks of

mutual responisibilities and responses. Marriage and fruits of marriage are to

be seen from Upapada. The 12th house is the fourth from 9th which indicates

that 12th, is the house of the Lord/Guru. The institution of marriage is

therefore beautifully attributed to, as an amsa of Dharma(navamsa). We

understand that much care has already been taken by the sages in these areas to

help mankind.

i take this opportunity, as a thanksgiving measure, to bow down to all the sages

for all their contributions to help mankind. i pray for their mercy and request

them to be kind enough for blessings us with greater revelations.
