Om Gurave Namah

Dear Chakroo,

This is what I know about the Indu lagna.I hope to be

corrected where I go wrong.

The literal meaning of Indu is Moon.So the moon sign has significance in the

calculation of the Indu lagna.Moon is also a symbol of the goddess. The Indu

lagna is used to see wealth, properity, beauty etc.

Calculation for the Indu Lagna:

The Indu lagna is a sensitive point in a horoscope based on the ascendant and the Moon sign.

1. Count ninth from both of these[Lagna and moon sign] and add the Kalas of the

lords of the sign thus arrived at, and divide the total of these two by 12, and

the remainder when added to the Moon sign gives the Indu Lagna.

2. For this calculation, the Kalas for the planets are as follows: Sun = 30;

Moon = 16; Mars = 6; Mercury = 8; Jupiter = 10; Venus = 12; and Saturn = 1.

3.This general principle is further modified by taking into account the odd and

even signs of the ascendant and Moon. In case both these are in odd signs, the

counting of the ninth sign is to be made directly, but in the case of their

being even, the resultant 9th house should be counted in the reverse direction.

Example: if the ascendant is Aries, which is an odd sign, the ninth from it

counted directly is Sagittarius whose lord is Jupiter who enjoys 10 kalas. For

Taurus as ascendant, an even sign, ninth from it counted in the reverse

direction is Virgo which is owned by Mercury having 8 Kalas. Similarly, if the

natal Moon is in an odd sign, the counting is done directly, and in the case of

its being an even sign, the direction will be reversed. If the remainder in the

final operation is odd, the final Indu-Lagna is counted directly from the Moon

sign while in the case of its being even, the counting from the Moon for fixing

the Indu Lagna is in the reverse direction.

Indications of Indu Lagna

The Indu Lagna is mainly used to see the wealth of a person. When occupied by a

benefic without any association with a malefic planet makes the individual

extremely wealthy perhaps a multi millionare and if only a malefic planet

occupies it, the individual may be rich but not as much as the previous

placement. If the malefic occupies Indu Lagna in its exaltation sign, the

individual becomes extremely wealthy. The placement of the Indu lagna can also

be used to time the coming of this wealth in the natives life.

Hope this helped.

Best Wishes,

Kanupriya.

THANKS for the clear explanation. It is appreciated.

Though I had read somewhere that the lord of Indu lagna also has some

bearing on the "quantity of wealth"? e.g. if Saturn is lord (1 point)

then means low wealth, if Venus lord (12 point) a lot of wealth??

Could you enlighten please?

thanks and regards

Om Gurave Namah

Dear Rajan,

Saturn is the karaka for poverty. So in any case I would

expect Saturn to bless the native with lesser wealth then Venus unless there

are some exceptions in the chart.I am not sure about the points being looked at

this way for the measurement of the wealth.I do agree that the placement of the

lord should be looked at.I am sure the Gurus will correect me if I am wrong.

Best Wishes,

Kanupriya.
