Guest guest
Definition of Gaudiya Sastra: Srimad-Bhagavatam. Mantra: astodasaksara yugala mantra. Rsi: Sri Gandharva (Radharani). Upasya (object of worship): Sri Krsna. Sadhana or Upakarana (means of elevation): bhakti as denoted by kirtana is the best of all practices. Every other type of sadhana is included within the bhakti of the Gaudiyas, which is intrinsic to the soul and is pervaded by transcendental divine attachment (raga). Sadhya or prayojana (goal or necessity): all desired goals of pious life and spiritual necessities are subsumed in the topmost necessity: Krsna-prema. Dhama or ädhära (spiritual abode or support): the Goloka, Vrndavana, of the rüpanuga Gaudiyas, is the topmost of all dhamas. The special manifestation of Vrndavana that is characterized by audarya magnanimity is Navadvipa. ------- This is given by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura; I'm not aware of an earlier source, although there may be. Are these criteria (sastra, mantra, etc.) standard for defining sampradayas? ------------------------ Sponsor --------------------~--> Get to your groups with one click.
