Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah :: Om Namo Naaraayanaaya || Namaste, SJC, Hyderabad group undertook the study of Kalachakra Dasa (KCD) system in its meeting of Mar. 30th. The study was based on PVR Narsimha Rao’s KCD tutorial, along with KCD chapter in his book, Sumeet Chug’s book and BPHS. The members present were: Jagannathan, Parthasarathi, DV Lakshmi and Shailesh. The discussion was confimed, primarily, to gaining the basic understanding of the KCD scheme, especially with reference to the guidelines given by Sarajit Poddar. The details of the discussions are reproduced below: Why the name of Kalachakra dasa is Kalachakra Dasa? The word Kalachakra literally means the wheel (“charka”) of time(‘kala”). Thus the straight forward meaning is a system that shows the condition/ status (“dasa”) of the native, as impacted by the motion, or forward movement, of the wheel of time (“kalachakra”). The other meanings of this word “kala” are YAMA, LORD SHIVA (ie Maha Kala) or SHANI/ Saturn(who is considered KALA in Jyotish). As per BPHS, this Dasa was first explained by Lord Shiva to Parvati, as a justification of the association of the word “Kala” to Lord Shiva. Therefore, some people also interpret the name KALACHAKRA dasa to mean a study for predicting the occurrence of MARAKA and ARISHTAS. What is the margin of error one would expect out of applying this dasa? In the current state of Correct Ayanamsa being not known, What is the range in which the correct ayanamsa could be and how much it can offset the dasa etc. KCD is a Rasi-Navamsa Dasa. Dasa sequence and elapsed dasa period, at birth, are computed on the basis of the Nakshatra Pada and, therefore, a small difference in the birth-time can cause a huge difference, not only in dasa dates but also in dasa itself. This is due to the fact that, in KCD, the elapsed portion of the moon’s nakshatra pada is applied to the “paramaayu’, whereas in other rasi dasa’s, it is applied to the elapsed portion of the moon’s nakshatra is applied to the first Dasa. Thus, a difference of 1 minute in birth-time, can make a difference of about 3 months in dasa time. And, since the dasa rasi’s themselves change with the change in nakshatra and nakshatra pada, the difference of birth-time in border-line cases is very crucial in KCD. The uncerainity associated with the correct ayanamsa can effect the accuracy, or reliability of KCD. For example. Between Lahiri and KP ayanamsa, there is a difference of almost 6 minutes, and can cause a difference of almost 6 years in dasa period. The t-o-b /ayanamsa error can also effect the applicable deha and jeeva rasis, a very crucial component of the KCD system. Different kinds of movements/ jumps and their relevance, their karakas, what do the karaka tell about those jumps. The main pecularity of KCD scheme is that the dasa rasis and dasa sequence changes with the nakshatra group and pada. Furthermore, on completion of one dasa cycle, the same dasa sequence is not repeated; instead the dasa sequence applicable to the next pada of that nakshatra starts. Within the dasa sequence, and due to the changeover of these dasa-sequences, the dasa rasis may not follow the regular clock-wise, or anti-clockwise sequence. Whenever this regularity is broken, some rasis get skipped. These are referred to as jumps. There are three kind of jumps: mandooki, markati and simhaavalokana. Whenever dasa changes from one rasi to its third rasi, skipping the intervening rasi, it is referred to as mandooki, or frog, jump. If the dasa changes from one rasi to its 12th rasi, this backward movement is referred to as markati, or monkey, jump. The third type of movement is trinal – it is called simhaavalokana, or lions observation/ glance. These irregular dasa movements cause an abrupt change/ disruption in the life of the native. The ancients have ascribed special effects for each type of jump, for each group of nakshatras. We request the gurus to clarify “their relevance, their karakas, what do the karaka tell about those jumps“, as we were not clear about this. CHART ANALYSIS: In order to understand the working of KCD, chart of Mr Nelson Mandela was selected, especially for the dramatic events occurring in his life. The chart used for this purpose, and a list of milestones in Mr. Mandelas life (taken from BBC web-site) is attached. The primary analysis, has been done by Parthasarathi and will be discussed in the next meeting and then presented on these lists. Similarly, another analysis, of Ms J Jayalalitha’s chart, done by Shanmukha, will also be discussed after that. We request the Guru’s and seniors to comment on our understanding and guide us.
