Can you please tell me what the pada means.. is that the Nakshatra pada the

Atamkaraka planet is in or the house?

Also please tell me the deity of worship if Sun is the Atmakaraka.

Thanks!

Om Gurave NamahOm Namo NarayanayaDear SushmitaI have also started thinking

seriously on this issue. My AK is Mars. Infact, I have realised that in the

past 4 months I have been drawn to an ancient Lord Subramanya Swamy (Muruga)

temple which also houses a separate sanctum sanctorum for Mars. I worship Lord

Muruga and Mars every Tuesday at this temple. But this doubt on worshipping AK

has been lingering in my mind all along.I have no idea of the gems to be worn

or not to be worn.Yes. The periods involving AK will teach a native important

lessons in this life. Lessons will be of penal nature for mistakes in the past

birth(s).I remember having read in the archives, that if the AK planet is in

the 1st pada, it shows the soul longing for artha in this janma. AK in the 2nd

pada indicates the soul's longing for dharma, 3rd pada indicates soul's longing

for kaama and 4th pada for moksha.Let's wait for Guru's guidance.Best wishesR.

SARVAM GYANANANDAMAYAM JAGAT

AUM GURUBYO NAMAH

Dear Kasturi,Sushmita & Prakash,

Mother protects the child but cannot take back the child to her womb once she

has delivered. Similarly the deity/devatha controlling the Chara Atmakaraka

can protect the self but does not take back the self to the source. The

biggest sacrifice is the sacrifice of the 'Aham/Ahamkara'. This great

deed/sacrifice is the job of the devatha controlling the planet placed in 12th

to karakamsa. In order to perform this greatest deed(nivedana of self), jyotish

sastra advices(the chara atmakaraka/individual) to pray to the deity/devatha

controlling the planet placed in the 12th to Karakamsa. Inorder to find out the

inclination of the self the placement of Atmakaraka in the Nakshatra pada is

also seen. Nakshatra is divided into four padas/charanas. Each pada has a

specific portfolio. Prathama pada(first) deals with Dharma, the second deals

with artha, the third deals with kama and the fourth deals with Moksha. Aham is

represented by the index finger. When the goal is to sacrifice this aham we need

not try to strenghthen it by wearing gems in the index finger. A sadhak is

advised to place his index finger in the root of the thumb(Guru/God) to make

his intentions of saranagadhi clear while he settles down in tapas/penance.

Happily/happy to be yours,

Dear Denis

The master of the chariot is not as important as the one Who controls the reigns of the chariot.

See the pada of the Moon. Although this also is not the final say but is more important.

Dear Vishwanadham,

You are absolutely right - there was no doubt about it.

But what I was asking was whether this rule applies universally?

Because if one has a chaioter like Sri Krishna (Moon is Sri Krishna), then

the master of the chariot - Arjuna - will have full faith in him and will

gladly surrender the control to him.

But is it possible in normal case of ordinary mortals - that the moon will

ALWAYS be stronger than the AK? Or do we again have some rules for

comparison of relative strengths?

Remember, Gurudev also mentioned "Although this also is not the final say

but is more important."

Dear Vishwanadham,

Let us think about AK's ultimate objective - as you mentioned, it is moksha.

And yes, the moon, representing desires of the 'mana' can create obstacles.

So how does the individual gain moksha - only by overpowering these

obstacles, isn't it?

That would happen only if the 'longing for moksha' being stronger than the

'material desires'!

In another thread, Sanjay ji has clarified that AK is significator of AATMA

(self) and not AATMAA(soul).

Thus, in a chart, we have several layers in an individual that make him/ her

'click':

* Lagna, and influences on it, represent the physical being

* Moon represents the 'mana' - desires, mental inclinations, etc.

* Sun sigifies the soul - the 'aatmaa'

* AK - signifies the accumulated karma/ prarabdha

All these have to be in sync - aspiring for moksha - for an individual to

achieve the ultimate goal of 'moksha',

Ofcourse, the above is MY UNDERSTANDING - hopefully correct.

And, although you give me credit for more knowledge than I possess - thanks

for the compliment, all the same - I request for correction and guidance of

Gurus.

Regards & best wishes,

Shailesh

Regarding the stone for AK: if you desire moksa, yes. because AK can teach hard lessons. If not, NO.

That's what I thought.

However I've read the messages bellow /by the way, have you seen that?/ and

Partha quotes Sanjay- go there and see for yourself /what the soul belongs for

depends on Ak

pada/

I will meditate on that, for sure, since it's new to me,

wish we had Sanjay here! Thanks for asking- I could have lost this important information!Anna

Dear Rajiv.

I will meditate on that, for sure, since it's new to me,

Dear Rajiv,

In this case, it is the nakshatra pada of your AK. It gives a general

indication of the AK's goal in this transient material life.

No, no gemstone for AK.

Best wishes,

Swee

Yes it brings suffering inevitably- we certainly don't like to enchance that-

as I said in my post.

What the role of the soul AK desires, see posts bellow,

as Partha mentioned, we'll wait for somebody to clerify.

I experienced that myself- My Ak is Moon, and I was suggested to wear pearls /or

weaker sec. stone, moon tone/, by experienced astrologers!!! and i did- but

didn't like it, and decided to listen 'inner voice'. Than I learnt here with

SJC, that AK stone IS big NO_NO- It happened that my AK is Lagnesh, so double

the trouble even without the stone. Or did I miss opportunity to attain moksa?

Om Namo Narayanaya,

This has some merits, but this is not a strict case.. We have adviced in

some cases stone for Atmakarak graha, yet for other reasons..

Best wishes

Dear Rajiv and Anna,

Never wear a stone for the Atmakaraka. This can get you into serious

trouble. There are exceptions but very few and rare ones.

Yes I think we should request the gurus to throw some light to the

AK discussion as it seems to be such a critical aspect of our lives. Seems

to me like a pivot/fulcrum we revolve around.

Dear Rajiv.

Regarding the stone for AK: if you desire moksa, yes. because

AK can teach hard lessons. If not, NO.

That's what I thought.

However I've read the messages bellow /by the way, have you seen

that?/ and Partha quotes Sanjay- go there and see for yourself /what the

soul belongs for depends on Ak

pada/

I will meditate on that, for sure, since it's new to me,

wish we had Sanjay here!

Thanks for asking- I could have lost this important information!
