Guest guest
Dear Sudharsanji & Zoranji 1. Shouldn't we donate the food which is saved on the UL fasting day, pls confirm as i remember vaguely Sanjayji in one of his posts telling that donation is a must. 2. Should we donate the same day or the next day. 3. Alternatively can money be donated. 4. On deeper thoughts if we have to donate, should we donate to a religious organisation or maybe Gurus if one is fasting on Thursday. Would be kind of you to answer back Best wishes Sunil John Mumbai vedic astrology, "raindancer_1998" <raindancer_1998> wrote: > Dear Sudharsanji, > > thank you for answering my questions! Guest guest
Dear Sunil, Charity is a must as it purifies but the question is what kind of charity.Any action that we undertake should be such that it does not gather any karma (good or bad). Both good and bad karmas will bring you back to this world to reap the results. So the best is to avoid any reactions to our actions. The only way to achieve that is to realize that everything that we have or think we own actually belongs to the Lord. So if it belongs to the Lord it must be used in His service. By using our monetary reources in His service there are no reactions because we are not enjoyers. So the best charity is to donate to an organization or cause that acts on His behalf. I usually donate to a temple that uses my contribution to feed the poor prasadam(food sanctified by offering to the Lord). The big difference is here its Prasadam and therefore the recipient is purified and its charity. I use the following site www.foodreleif.org to do it.You may choose whatever suits your purpose. So remember that we are not owners of the money and as a result Lakshmi has to be used only for Sriman Narayana.I think you may do the charity whenever its fine and its not a must that it has to be the same day.
