Guest guest
Sorry, I forgot to mention a very important point: The upapada is an invaluable tool in the assessment of the marital life of an individual as well as progeny, which is the fruit of marriage. The 12th house is also the house of "bed comforts" which is more than just sleeping... The 2nd house has to do with family (can't have that without the "bed" part...). Which one do you think is more appropriate to play the Upapada role ? Check out a few charts of people you know using BOTH houses and applying the major rules and you will find out for yourself that the Arudha of the 12th matches while the one of the 2nd does not. Kind regards Jay Weiss - Jyotish vedic astrology Saturday, October 04, 2003 11:56 AM [vedic astrology] Upa Pada Dear learned members, in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra which is included in the PL6 I found a comment on Upapada. "However if we study other commentaries on Jaimini (Chaukhambh Hindi edition) we are taught that it is the 12th house in the case of odd rasi ascending, and it is the 2nd house in the case of an even rasi ascending. According the Pad for the 12th or 2nd from Lagna is called Upa Pada." Could any of the learned members clarify this issue as it is calculated in all programs from the 12th house and no one seems to use this rule mentioned above. Guest guest
Dear Jay Weiss, many thanks for this clear and helpful reply. I will instantly check some charts and find out myself. I have been working with 12th house Upa Pada all the time with good results but got confused reading the article. Thanks again Marcus Sorry, I forgot to mention a very important point: The upapada is an invaluable tool in the assessment of the marital life of an individual as well as progeny, which is the fruit of marriage. The 12th house is also the house of "bed comforts" which is more than just sleeping... The 2nd house has to do with family (can't have that without the "bed" part...). Which one do you think is more appropriate to play the Upapada role ? Well as we are all different we could argue that some feel more attracted to bed pleasures and some to sustaining the family. Sanjay described the UpaPada fasting as the day of giving. Giving for charity 12th, or to sustain the family 2nd. We fast in general for the marriage and this would sustain the family. We could also see the fruit of Marriage is progeny and should be seen from the house of gains 2nd and not the house of losses 12th. These are no doubts but rather a play of thoughts. Check out a few charts of people you know using BOTH houses and applying the major rules and you will find out for yourself that the Arudha of the 12th matches while the one of the 2nd does not.
