Guest guest
Dear Gauranga, there is a very interesting Sanskrit text on the subject called Svara Chintamani that is available in translation. I am sure that Manorama can get it for you. Dear members, Namaste. I'm back from a month+ pilgrimage in India. Back to Jyotish studies. I'm studying Prashnga marga at the moment and there are very intertesting passages on Swara Sastra, i.e. the astrologer should analyse his breath while the prashna is made. I wander if anyone of the members has additional information on Swara Sastra besides what is stated in Prashna marga? Guest guest
om namo näräyaëäya|Dear Gauranaga Ji, I Think there is no other classics better than Prshna Margam to describe about Ida - pingala and Sushumna nadi.I dont have the one translated by Sri B.V.Raman but I have another translation in Kannada where the translator describes about this theory. The breath coming from left nostril is called Ida nadi ruled by Chandra, the one coming from right nostril is called Pingala Nadi ruled by Surya and the breath coming is same from both nostrils is Sushumna Nadi which is ruled by Agni. If either the Jyotishi or the querent when started from his house has Ida Nadi, then there will be auspicious results for both.Even for travel, Ida Nadi is very good.If the querent while reaching the house has Pingala Nadi,it indicates good results. For fructification of Karmas and Yoga Sadhana Karmas,Sushumna is good and for other activities Sushumna is bad. For an Astrologer,Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday,his/her breath should be in Pingala Nadi ( breath from right nostril ) and other days, the breath should be Pingala Nadi.If this is so,then on such days his predictions will become accurate and he will be benefitted. When a male person is diseased and is on the bed and the querent stands on the right side of the Jyotishi asking question about the results of diseased person,if the breath of Jyotishi at that time is on the right nostril ( Pingala Nadi ),then he can predict about the curing of the disease and health be restored. when a female is diseased and bed ridden and the querent asking Prashna on the left side of Jyotishi and at that time if the breath of Jyotishi is Ida Nadi, then health can be predicted. Now similarly when the querent asks question standing on left side,if the breath of Jyotishi is from right nostril ie.,Pingala Nadi, then the curing of the disease will be difficult and difficult remedies have to be performed. Also when the querent asks question on the right side of Jyotishi and Jyotishi has Ida Nadi ,then also the curing of the patient will be difficult. Now see here a very important information. When the querent is asking a Prashna and at the same time the Jyotishi is taking his breath inward, then predict the diseased will cure very easily and helth be restored. Similarly when the querent is asking a Prashna and at that time the Jyotishi is breathing outward, then predict that the diseased person will not be cured at all and death may come to him/her. According to the Author of Anushtana Paddathi, if the breath flowing and the querent asking Prashna are on same side, then predict health can be restored. The querent in front of or on the left side of or standing little higher than of Jyotishi, also the Paksha be Shukla and the Nadi is Ida Nadi ( Chandra Nadi ) ,then predict the fulfilness of querent's Prashna matter. If the querent asks a Prashna during krishna Paksha, standing on the back of,standing little lower than of,on the right side of Jyotishi, and the Nadi is Pingala Nadi ( Surya Nadi ),then predict the failure or loss of results of Prashna matter. During Shukla Paksha,Mondays,Wednesdays,Thursdays and Fridays ,if the nadi is Ida Nadi, then auspiciousness can be predicted.Similarly during Krishna Paksha,on Sundays,Tuesdays and Saturdays, if the breath flows through Pingala Nadi, then also auspiciousness can be predicted and the reverse can be predicted for other days. Now when a warrior starts from his house or from his camp during Ida Nadi, reaches the war front and the breath flows at that time is Pingala Nadi and when he attacks the enemy and the breath at that time flows in Sushumna nadi ,then even a weak person will win against the enemies. Similarly when a brave and courageous warrior starts with Pingala Nadi, enters the war front with Ida Nadi and at the start of war,the breath be in Sushumna Nadi, then he suffers failure and death can come to him. If thieves, enemies, kings, hypocrites ,traders and such other persons are seen standing in the direction of breathless nostril, neither the querent nor the consultant ( Jyotishi ) would have any trouble from such persons. The flow of breath through right nostril ( Pingala Nadi ) would prove beneficial at a query pertaining to disputation, gambling, fighting, sports, bathing, eating, sexual union, trade and profession, ear and disgrace. Similarly the breath in the left nostril ( Ida Nadi ) would be beneficial at a query pertaining to journey, making charity, marriage ceremony, solemn declaration, planning, starting on a mission, and at the time of house warming function. When a query about progeny is asked and when the Jyotishi is looking at the pregnant lady,( who just confirmed as pregnant )the Nadi flowing from the lady is Pingala nadi ( Right Nostril ) ,then male child can be predicted,if the breath flows in Ida nadi, then female child can be predicted,if the flow of breath is from both nostrils ( Sushumna Nadi ),then predict dead child will be delivered. When a pregnant lady asks a Prashna bout the sex of her child, then at that time if the lady is at the breath flow of Jyotishi, then predict male child,if asking on the breathless side of Jyotishi, then a female child can be predicted, when the breath is common from both nostrils ,then twin children can be predicted. When a query related to fructification of a job ( Karya Siddhi Prashna ) is asked, then at the time of query if Ida Nadi is there and then changed to Pingala nadi during consultation, any difficult work can be accomplished. Here the query also should check his Nadi . When a king asks a query about possibilty of attacking him by enemies, then if the Nadi is Ida,then the enemies will not attack, and if Pingala nadi flows through Jyotishi's nostril, then predict that the enemy will attack. When a query is asked whether he will win the war and if the Nadi flow and the querent's position are same, then victory can be predicted. This can be used for a competition also. When the query is asked at the position of Jyotishi where there is no flow, then failure can be predicted. The above are some explantions regarding different Nadis. I hope this helps you. With Sri Hari Vaayu Naama Smarana, Ramadas Rao.
