the article below about gandanthas.

GANDANTHAS

NAKSHATRA GANDANTHAS :

The four Ghatis of the junction point ( Sandhi ) of Nakshatras Revathi ( Last 2

Ghatis )-Ashwini ( 1st 2 Ghatis ),Ashlesha ( Last 2 Ghatis )-Magha ( 1st 2

Ghatis ), and Jyeshta ( Last 2 Ghatis )- Moola ( 1st 2 Ghatis ) constitute what

is called as Nakshatra Gandantha.Here 2 Ghatis means 48 minutes which is about 3

deg.20 Min. of longitude.

LAGNA GANDANTHAS :

Last Half Ghatis of Meena Rashi,and 1st Half Ghatis of Mesha Rasi,Last half

Ghatis of Karka Rashi and 1st half Ghatis of Simha Rasi, Last half Ghatis of

Vrischika Rashi and 1st Half Ghatis of Dhanu Rashi are called as Lagna

Gandantha. So when in any birth chart if the Lagna of any native falls in any

of these Rashis ,it forms Lagna Gandantha.

TITHI GANDANTHA :

The 1st 2 Ghatis of Poorna Tithis ie.,Panchami ( 5th ),Dashami ( 10th ), and

Pournami / Amavasya ( 15th/30 th) and the ending last 2 Ghatis of Nanda Tithis

ie., Pratipada ( 1st ),Shasti ( 6th ) and Ekadashi ( 11th ) Tithis form Tithi

Gandantha.

The above all births are inauspicious and Shantis are required to alleviate the

evil effects of such births.

Among all the Gandanthas ,the ending 5 Ghatis of Jyeshta and starting 8 Ghatis

of Moola are called ABHUKTA MOOLA which is considered as highly evil for the

native and his/her relatives.

REMEDIES SUGGESTED AS PER ANCIENT CLASSICS :

The father of the child should see the child only after Janma Shoucha ie., 11th

day of child’s birth.By making the idol of the deity of lord of Tithi in gold

or nakshatra lord or Lagna Lord and performing rituals as mentioned in

Classics,feeding of Brahmins to be done at the last. There are some other

rituals are given in some other classics.

For Shanti or remdies to be done for Abhukta Moola,the Shantis are mentioned in BPHS – Vol 2.

The periods of Gandas or evils for different Nakshatras are given below :

1) 16 Years in case of 1st Pada of Ashwini,

2) 8 years in case of 1st Pada of Magha,

3) 1 year in case of Jyeshta,

4) 4 years in the case of Chitra and Moola,

5) 2 years in the case of ashlesha,

6) 1 year in the case of Revathi,

7) 2 months in the case of Uttra Phalguni,

8) 3 months in the case of Pushyami,

9) 9 months in the case of Poorvashada ( Harmful to father ),

10) 12 years in the case of Hasta ( Harmful to father ).

11) Immidiate danger to father in case of birth in Abhukta Moola.

EXCEPTIONS TO GANDANTHA :

The Gandantha Dosha will be there only if the birth takes place during the Lunar

months of Jyeshta,Aashadha,Maargashira,Pushya and Maagha months.

water).Also Visti Ji has clarified that full padas(3.2deg) are approximations

and Rasi Gandanthas doesnt extend to full padas.If all the Guru jis could

confirm the facts it would be helpful in building the basics.Fire

gandantha positions are an unfortunate position for a planet to be in. With my

very limited knowledge, i have see charts where a planet was exalted in
