Guest guest Posted July 19, 2003 Report Share Posted July 19, 2003 A muhurta is 2 ghatis=48 minutes. 0.8 hour. 8th Muhurtha will start after 7th is over, i.e. after 5.6 hours or 5 hrs 36 min. So if Sunrise is at 6.0 am, the 8th Muhurta will be from 11.36 AM to 12.24 PM. the usual practice is to fix this AT LOCAL MEAN NOON. The duration of the day (dina maana) is thus defined. Center of this dinaman is the ABHIJIT MUHURTA.
