Guest guest
Hello Rajan: Well, women in menses are not allowed in temples because some MALE asshole was over-enthusiastic in his attempt to make women feel/believe even more "inferior" and "cursed" then what they already were feeling. I see no reason why a menstruating woman shouldn't enter a temple or a kitchen, etc. I feel a menstruating woman should have the right and option to enter temples, kitchen and do whatever she pleases. Isn't this ridiculous? Menstruation is God's creation as well, why shoud we treat is as a curse or unholy? Guest guest
Thanks for the input - I wholly agree with your opinions... ...BUT IT DOES NOT REALLY ANSWER my query. WHY?? WHAT MYTHOLOGY IS BEHIND IT?? Thanks anyway regards RAJAN vedic astrology, "vijay kumar" <v_kumar@c...> wrote: > Dear Readers, > > I to the said views of dear Mukund. > > I would add that some Goddess temples also menstruate like Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati and that is the festive time there !! > > Thanks, > > Vijay Kumar > - > monmuk111 > vedic astrology > Thursday, December 11, 2003 9:41 PM > [vedic astrology] Re: Why WOMEN in Menses not allowed in Temple or to worship? > > > Hello Rajan: > > Well, women in menses are not allowed in temples because some MALE > asshole was over-enthusiastic in his attempt to make women > feel/believe even more "inferior" and "cursed" then what they already > were feeling. > > I see no reason why a menstruating woman shouldn't enter a temple or > a kitchen, etc. I feel a menstruating woman should have the right and > option to enter temples, kitchen and do whatever she pleases. > > Isn't this ridiculous? Guest guest
Dear Rajan, Women having menses are 'unclean', that's why they are not allowed to worship. The reason for this is that they take part in the results of Indra's being cursed for his sins. Yours, Dhira Krsna dasa, Jyotishi http://www.radhadesh.com
Guest guest
Dear Dhira, After forcing myself to sleep on your comments I will now respond, hopefully in a polite fashion. In my opinion the evaluation of women as being "unclean" when menstruating has been one of the most damaging and oppressive notions to hit us throughout the age of Kali. I've heard on more than one occasion that the menstrual blood is deemed unclean because it could have sustained life, yet does not. This reasoning would certainly be valid if it applied equally to each ejaculation experienced by men. Why are men not deemed to be unclean creatures? They ejaculate a lot more frequently than women menstrate. Doesn't their sperm also have a connection to life? Some day this foolishness will pass, once all of us stop blaming the gods for our own distorted and perverted thinking. How can we refer to the gods and their shakti in one breath while belittling the shakti of mortal man? May each of us strive to treat all living beings with respect. Guest guest
Dear Friends, Much has been said about the topic under reference. I personally think that it has to do with the practice in old days where women of India used to remain isolated from even their family members during the M.C. That practice might have to do with non availability of various medicines or knowledge about the precise function of bodily processes. Though looking at the knowledge of Ayurveda it seems unlikely. The practice might have to do with hygiene, vis-a-vis resources available in days bygone. Astrologically it might have to do with Mars and Moon's relative positions at the time of M.C.. It has nothing to do with discrimination against women as, it appears, is being proposed(my understanding might be wrong as to the intent of mails). Chandrashekhar. ---- Hare Rama Krishna Dear Phyllis, Can we really stop thinking about God, when we are in the toilet, is the question that bothers me! i think what we are talking about is externalities here, which are more to do with religion than spirituality. Are we talking about the purity/cleanliness of bodyor mind or soul? Let it be so for believers, is what i think about the externalities. Both the parents are required for continuity on this earth. They are different & there is no comparison between them. regards viswanadham Phyllis Chubb <phyllis (AT) phyllischubb (DOT) com> wrote: Dear Dhira,After forcing myself to sleep on your comments I will now respond, hopefullyin a polite fashion. In my opinion the evaluation of women as being "unclean" when menstruatinghas been one of the most damaging and oppressive notions to hit usthroughout the age of Kali.
