Guest guest
Dear Partha Ji I know an eminent surgeon with high medical qualifications and sound experience(retired long back and a senior citizen now).He was the head of Cardio-Thoracic unit in Trivandrum Medical college. He never had any private practise at home nor at any private clinic. As you are aware the potential for money by doing private practise is very high, especially considering his stature. He never took even a single penny or any favour from patients. He cannot believe in GOD as he is a communist by heart,GOD and religion is opium!.(Though i can see many communists going to temple nowadays). All his life was dedicated for selfless service to the society. He led a simple life.He upheld principles in other areas of life as well. Can we call him a Karma yogi? Has he understood the meaning and purpose of life? May be my question here is can one yoga (as Bhagawan mentions many yogas in Gita) alone make a person 'aware'.Because the example has no bhakthi inclination at all.But i can assure you, the case is a height or culmination of selfless service.Bhakthi towards society and human kind? Guest guest
Dear Pradeep It is mentioned in Gita, that there are different temparaments for different people. All the people in this world are either in mode of "goodness", mode of "passion" and mode of "ignorance". Doing selfless service without aspiring for results is all fine. But the person must unerstand that he is not the "doer". WHen we think that we have done "work unselfishly" it is living in mode of ignorance. The doer and the did are "HIM", we were never the doers and never the dids. Your friend has done good work , no doubt about it. Great for him. But even if he doesnot go to temples it is alright, but atleast he should be "aware" that he has "not" done the "Selfless karma". He has to give whatever he has done to the bhagvan sitting in the heart chakra. Without love for God, there is no spiritual growth. Total Self surrender is required. Worship the inner god, do "abhishek" to the inner shiva, pray to the mother who "feeds" the "buddhi". Worship her through understanding. This will give awareness. I was an atheist for 20 years, that did not help me, i went to temples and did poojas, and mantra japas etc, that neither helped. What ultimately helped me was understanding that God is not "restricted" in an Idol. he is everywhere, he is in me, he is in you, he is "love", he is "consciousness", he is "cosmic awareness". We may call him Allah, jesus, and may be Truth. But ultimately the result is the same. So, coming back, we should always remember that whatever we do is to be given away from mind to soul. The soul is the only controlling power, he is the Purusha. The prakriti is manifested and does work for the Supersoul. Guest guest
Dear Partha Ji I realize that, all what i have read about spirituality, meaning of life, the absolute truth etc were able to make only some passing impacts on me.It didnt permeate in the way it was supposed to.I thought i knew everything. The three modes(goodness, passion, ignorance) mentioned were carrying enough light.I understand - inspite of good deeds, why one can still remain in an ignorant mode. The upadesha from Bhagawan - The doer and the did are 'HIM' are crystal clear now.I believe there is a time in everyones life for understanding the Truth. And HE comes in many forms. We have to listen.I am fortunate. I understand the 'choice made by the soul' statement, present in an earlier mail from you (which was reiterated again yesterday to Narasimha rao ji).
