Om Gurave Namah

Dear Samarth and Other learned members,

You said,

Maya is that which exists in the Past and Future. Sathya is "NOW".

Can you please tell me from where(Puranas etc) the qoute is.

Past, Present & Future is Mahakaal (Time). He is also called ultimate truth.

If Present is Truth(Sathya) then everybody present in Present(NOW) would be realized!

Truth can be all three Past, Present & Future(Tri Kaalgnya; Knower of 3 times)

put together and not Just Present!.

This thread made me do some thinking and reading...

The understanding of the word 'Maya' (Devi MahaMaayi) could be very essential to

understand Arudha.

Let me put my little understanding to learned audience for correction.

I think understanding Maya involves understanding Purusha and Prakriti.

Attempt to understand Prakriti can be best done from Devi Bhagavatam.

I would like to qoute from Devi Bhagavatam[DB] Book 9 , Chapter 1 Slokas 1 to 23

The conversation is between Lord Narayana and Devarishi Narada,

Lord Narayana says

Prakriti when she is involved in creation is five fold. Namely...

1) Durga ; Mother of Ganesha

2) Radha

3) Lakshmi

4) Sarasvati

5) Saavitrii

In Prakriti

Pra means Exalted, Superior, Excellent

Kriti means Creation

in a different breakup of the word

Pra means Sattva Guna the most exalted quality

Kri is Rajo Guna and

Ti denotes Tamo guna

The Great Devi that exists before creation is called Prakriti after creation.

Paramaatma by his Yoga divided himself into two parts the right side of which

was male and left side was the female Prakruti.

Now to the 1st Devi Durga.

Out of the Will of Sri Krishna, to create the world Whose Will is all in all, came

out at once the Mula Prakriti, The great Devi Ishwari. By Her Command came out five forms from her.

Durga, the Mother of Ganesha, comes, as the first the most auspicious ,Loved by Shiva.

This Great Devi is the Intelligence, sleep, hunger, thirst, shadow, drowsiness,

fatigue, memory, caste, forbearance, error, peace, beauty, and conciousness,

contentment, nourishment, prosperity, and fortitude.

She is sung in the Vedas and in other shastras as the Maha Maayaa, of the nature of the Universe.

So this explation tends to indicate that Maayaa can be **unmanifest** substances

like intelligence too.

Therefore Maybe Arudha's in higher division like Siddamsa(D24) etc could also be

valid. It maybe just that at each divisional harmonic the Maya/Arudha may have

differenent Viel.

Understanding of the other 4 Devi's may give more light.

MahaMaaya is creating, preserving and dissolving this world by Time, Karma, and

Nature and other efficient causes[DB6.31.22].

Time(including all three aspects) itself is a kind of tool of MahaMaayii.

Warm Regards

S. Prabhakaran

The Mind always is in the past or future but never in the present. Maya =

DeviSathya = BrahmanThe Mind is always doing DHYANA of Devi i.e DHYANA of Maya

i.e DHYANA of the Past and future.Divine mother you are so Beautiful. Please

move aside and allow me to have a GLimpse of BRAHMAN behind you.I am all that

exists. Such a beautiful world I have created.
