Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Tanvir, Let me share what I know, > 1. Is it necessary that we keep the tulsi mala in the small bag made by cloth when we are chanting mantras by tulsi mala? I mean, can not we just keep the mala out of the small bag [keeping exposed] and chant mantras while counting with the mala? I think the whole purpose of using a bag in for the mala is to hold the mala's loose end from falling on feet when you sit for japa. If the mala is smaller of lesser count I suppose you dont need to use it. For storing you can keep it at any place/altar where you think it's clean and safe from mis handling. > 2. Is it necessary that we start counting the mala from the big side? You mean the joint ends where there are extra beeds?. It's the Rishi's head with the choti(the remaining hair on shaven head). I donno where you should start all japa from , I try to end all japa in choti. If I need to do lesser counts (like 21 or so) I just count from inbetween such that I end in the choti. > > 3. Is it necessary to reverse the mala when one mala chanting is done? YES, You need to turn around after reaching the joint. You are not supposed to crossover the joint. You have to turn around the mala and count the other away for the next round. Warm Regards S. Prabhakaran Om Tat Sat
Guest guest
Dear Sanjay Prabhakaran jee, Thanks for the helpful reply. Well, when I said, "Starting japa from big side" I meant the side where the beads are bigger. The tulsi mala I have, one side has bigger beads and it gradually goes to smaller and then when it comes round to the end again, the bead is the smallest. The person sold me that, told me to start japa from the bigger beads' side and then when one mala japa is done, turn it around and then start from the small beads again. Yes it basically means that we do not cross the Bead that is Rishi's head. Thanks :-) Namaste, Tanvir What can not happen, can never happen.Which is mine, is forever mine. Guest guest
om namo näräyaëäya|Dear Tanvir, You said the mala starts from big and then it becomes small. Now you also can see this mala is joined by a Coral or a red bead and we have to start the Japa from one side of this Coral or red bead and when it ends with that bead, dont cross it but reverse it and start from that bead and count. I hope this helps you. With Sri Hari Vaayu Naama Smarana, Ramadas Rao.Tanvir <tanvir (AT) siriusbb (DOT) com> wrote: Dear Sanjay Prabhakaran jee, Thanks for the helpful reply.
