Guest guest
Dear Sanjay-ji, Ramadas-ji, Narasimha-ji and other brilliant astrologers, I am trying to confirm whether the technique of manu's progression that i picked up from one of Sanjay-ji's CDs was correctly understood by me. So let me go ahead and describe what i have understood. Essentially, this is used as a complimentary tool (in addition to the dashas, etc) to pinpoint the likelyhood of an event occuring in a particular year. Let me go through an example - say i wanted to time a person's marriage, i would go to the navamsa and progress the sun (from it's current position in navamsa) by 1 sign each year until it reaches the 7th house. So if the navamsa lagna is pisces and the navamsa sun in is libra, i have to progress that sun by one year until the sun enters virgo (the 7th house), the ascendent(pisces) or the trines from the 7th hosue(capricorn, taurus). It is especially likely to happen when sun has both graha dristi(desire) and rasi dristi(permanent aspect) on the 7th house(virgo). So in the above case, the likelyhood of marriage is when sun progresses virgo (the 7th house itself) or when it progresses into Pisces(which is the 1st house which has both graha dristi and rasi dristi). So looking at when the sun would progress into these signs (sun starts at libra, so 1 for libra, 2 for scorpio, ....) we get - (12,24,36 as the years when sun progresses into virgo) and (6,18,30,42 as the years when sun progresses into pisces) as the possible years a person may get married. Now going back to vimsottari or another dasha system we can see whether any of those years correspond to the 7th lord, or house in any way, if it does, then marriage will likely occur during then. I also picked up that one can do the same thing in saptamsa (D-7) for timing child briths. Over here instead of looking at the 7th house and it's trines, look at the 5th house, it's trines, the ascendent and the 12th from the 5th house (remember if the ascendent in d-7 is even counting of the 5th house is done in reverse direction, however the sun is still progressed in the zodiacal fashion). Now let's look at Siddhamsa (D-24). Over here to figure out the progressed sun, there is some bit of calculation involved. Let me explain - Say we want to find out about events that may occur when a person is 19 years old (which means they have completed their 18th birthday and is now running their 19th year). Take the length of one siddhamsa (D-24) (30deg/24equals parts = 1.25deg per part) and multiply it by 19 (since 19 years have elapsed) = 23.75 deg. Now add this to the natal sun's degrees. Say the natal sun was in 22.98 deg in aries, so 22.90 (natal sun) + 23.75(progressed sun) = 46.65deg which puts the sun in 16.65 deg (46.65 - 30) in taurus. Now calculate which siddhamsa the progressed sun falls in. We do this by dividing (16.65/1.25) = 13.32 or the 14th siddhamsa. This siddhamsa falls in the 14th sign counted from cancer (as the progressed sun fell in taurus an even sign. if the progressed sun fell in an odd sign counting would start from leo). With respect to everything else in the chart we can figure out what events will take place with the sun activating that particular house in D-24. So here are my questions - 1. In D-7 why do we consider the progressed sun in the 12th house from the 5th as a possible time when a child birth could occur? 2. I understand that in D-24 since the counting is not continuous (because for odd signs the counting starts from leo and for even signs the counting starts from cancer and that is the reason why we calculate the position of the progressed sun. Can we do this with all the charts even if the counting is continouous? 3. Are we considering the sun's progression because sun is what ignites a particular event to take place (and the moon sustains it)? If so, should the position of the moon with respect to sun be considered to look at whether the event that will take place will be successful in the longer term? 4. Is there somethings that i missed out on? Thank you most kindly in advance for your help.
