gaganAntahsthA : Residing in the ether

 

Gagana, ether in the heart, or the elemental ether, or the supreme

Ether. The Sruti [sve. Up., III. 9] says, "She is the one abiding

like a firm tree in the sky".

 

Or, gagana, ether, anta, its destruction, sthA, she remains [even

after the destruction, of the ether]

 

Or, gagana, the syllable ha, antahstha, the syllables, ya, ra, la, and

va, these represent the bijas of the five elements.

She abides inside Space-Time, or AkAsa.

 

Here, AkAsa may refer to daharAkAsa, in the heart; the bhUtAkAsa,

which is the Space inside the paNca-bhUtAs; or the parAkAsa, which is

beyond all of these.

 

The name can also be broken into "gagana-," meaning AkAsa; "anta-,"

meaning an ending; and "sthA," meaning state. Thus, She is also the

Reality that lies beyond the AkAsa.
