Dear Venkat,

A short comment:

You wrote "According to Hinduism our worst enemies are the ones within

us..."

Why only Hinduism ?

The six "negative qualities" mentioned are all human inheritance to some

degree, regardless of religion, colour or 'race'.

I'll stop here...

Dear Jay,

Very true, this is human nature regardless of religion. I din't mean

to single out Hinduism - since that is the religion I am most

familiar with, I based my commentary on Hinduism, but the need to

conquer the negative qualities within us is common to all.

Thanks for pointing this out!

Just want to share what I've learnt from Sanjay Rath-ji.

> > Kama - Shukra - Ganesha, Devi in her peaceful forms (Lakshmi, Uma> > etc.)>

Shani - Shiva

If i remember correctly, matsarya (envy) is represented by mercury, mada (or

excessive pride) is represented by the sun, lobha (or greed) by sani or saturn

and moha (or attachment) by the moon.

Hopefully some of you can set this straight.

Thanks,

- Jai

Dear Venkatarama,

Did you misprint Rahu in place of Chandra? Or does Rahu rule any Chakra?

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Chandrasekhar Ji,

Yes, that is strange, isn't it, since Rahu does not own any houses?

Different gurus and books have different graha schemes. The scheme I

wrote is one, the logic that was explained is that the luminories

(Sun and Moon) are beyond the CHakras, since they "illuminate the

path" and are not confined to any one area or one Chakra. Other

schemes only exempt the Sun, and assign a Chakra to the Moon (Heart

Chakra), and remove Rahu from the scheme. I don't know. Ketu also,

is outside of the scheme I mentioned, since he is the Moksha Karaka.

Another gentleman wrote another scheme ... hopefully when we put our

heads together, we can understand who are the real owners / Grahas.

Narasimha posted something on Chakras sometime back, let me see if I

can find it. I appreciate your guidence.

Thanks,

Venkat

Dear Venkat,

Please see, You must be talking about the Shad Ripus. The Guru do not

represent any of the shad ripus as it has special powers for the Moksha. One

cannot get the moksha without the blessing of the Guru, its placement in the

twelth house or drishti. Also the Rahu and Ketu also do not represent the shad

ripus as they are the nodes and karmic planets. The remaining seven planets

represent the shad ripus as follows:

Sun - Mad

Moon- Moha

Mars- Krodha

Mercury- Matsar

Venus- Kaam

Saturn- Lobha

The Place in the horosope of the shad ripus is the sixth house. And the details

of it can be analysed with the help og D6 divisional chart.

I think this will help you,

Yours

Dear Dewavrat ji,

D-6 is the chart of enemies who manifest physically, such as

physical enemies, disease, litigation etc. The shadripus (six

internal enemies) work at the sub-conscious level. They are rather

seen in D-30.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

AUM GURUBYO NAMAH

Dear Chandrasekharji, venkat and dewavrat,

Sun is the father, Moon is the mother and Guru is the son. The six enemies are as follows: -

1. Kaama - venus

2. Krodha - mars

3. Lobha - rahu

4. Moha - ketu

5. Mada - sani

6. Matsarya - buda

Kaama(desire) - Venus. This venus is exalted in pisces. Sun is the most

powerful planet in the maraka kshetra to Venus. Lord Shiva is responsible for

kaama daghana(burning of kaamadeva). Lord Shiva can open up the third eye which

can extinguish Kaama/desire.

Krodha(anger) - Mars. Lord Datatreya who appeared as chandala(sani and rahu are

co-owners of kumba) before AdiSankara can help in the annihilation of krodha.

Lobha(greed) - Rahu. The All compassionate Mother Parasakthi can drive away this

evil force called greed(supposed to be the innate quality of Manushya/human

beings).

Moha(passion) - Ketu. Lord Ganesha(karaka for liberation from bondage) can help

us from preventing this headless plunge.

Mada(intoxication) - Sani. Lord Subrahmanya is more intoxicating/more

captivating than any intoxicants.

Matsarya(jealousy) - Buda. Lord Sriman Narayana is responsible for sustenance

and stability. He has declared that he would descend to lift up the glory of

dharma and do justice.

Hope this helps.

Astrologically yours,

Dear Ramanarayanan,

I do not think the ripu ruling is based on who can deliver you from a

ripu. Ketu could not rule Moha. It is Chandra. Similarly Rahu ruling

Lobha appears to be wrong as Guru rules over it , if my memory serves me

right. Could you give the source of your information, since I could be

wrong?

Chandrashekhar.

Hello all

what I read in one marathi astrology book is..

1. Kaama - venus

2. Krodha - mars

3. Lobha - Sat

4. Moha - Moon

5. Mada - Sun

6. Matsarya - buda

Which I find right one with charcteristics of planets.

But I donot know Why Jup is not part of this Shad ripu

consideration.. One reason is Jupiter is Guru... Or For Mada either

Sun / Jup has to be considered.

AUM GURUBYO NAMAH

Dear Chandrasekharji,

Sani is the karaka of 6th house. Shadripu is seen in Parashari Trimsamsa chart.

These weaknesses are acquired on account of Rajo and Tamo gunas. The satwa guna

planets (Sun, Moon and Jupiter) do not contribute to the shadripu. The rajo guna

planets buda and sukra cause ego/jealousy and lust related weakness while the

tamo guna planets cause anger(mars), greed(rahu), intoxication/addiction(sani)

and illusions and mistakes(ketu).

Source reference that is fresh in my memory is the chapter on Trimsamsa by Shiv

Pujan in the varga chakra book.

Hope this helps.

Astrologically yours,
