Guest guest
Dear Friends, According to Hinduism, our worst enemies are the ones within us, and the true victory is to defeat these. The six that are listed are Kama (lust or Desires), Krodha (anger), Lobha (greed), Moha (ignorance or foolishness), Mada (pride), Matscharya (Jealousy or Envy). Each of these not only causes sorrow, but they also lead to the others. We see this in our daily life. If we desire something, and do not get it, (Kama) we are either angry (Krodha), or envious of those that do have it. If we do fulfil our desires, we then get greedy for more, or take foolish pride in our possessions. These six are also related to the 6 lower chakras, in that order, and controlling each of them gets us one step closer to the Sahasrara, the eternal abode of Sadaashiva. One way to control these evils is to meditate upon the Grahas that are responsible for causing these, as well as responsible for giving us the strength to overcome these. Kama - Shukra - Ganesha, Devi in her peaceful forms (Lakshmi, Uma etc.) Krodha - Mangala - Narasimha or Skanda Lobha - Guru - one's Guru or the Jagatguru Moha - Budha - Vishnu Mada - Rahu - Devi in her ferocious forms (Durga, Shakti etc) Matsarya - Shani - Shiva The idea is that the Grahas represent the "antidote" to the poison spewed by the evils, for example, Moha is ignorance and Budha stands for intelligence that lets us transcend the ignorance. The two that I don't understand are for Mada and Mascharya. Could any learned member of the group clarify that these are indeed the correct Grahas to pray for Mukti from these two evils? Thank you, Venkat
