Hi Janine -

 

Marana Karaka Sthana for a particular planet is a bhava (or house) where that

planet is unable to perform it's natural duties. It's an extremely bad

placement for a planet and it will destroy the significations of the

bhavas(houses) owned by that planet. Say for a Aquarius native, if Venus is in

Cancer, then venus although yogakaraka is unable to bestow any good for the

native, infact the 4th and 9th houses (which are owned by venus) will suffer.

 

The marana karaka placements for the planets are -

 

Sun - 12th house

Moon - 8th house

Mar - 7th house

Rah - 9th house

Jup - 3rd house

Sat - 1st house

Mer - 7th house

Ket - As far as i know it doesnt.

Ven - 6th house.

Great question and I don't have a definite answer. Referring to an earlier

discussion where we found that in the Daily Tithi Pravesha chart for Kerry

where Jupiter was in the 3rd for a Libra ascendent (so jupiter was in it’s own

sign) the problem wasn't as bad. Similarly your specific example was what Sri

Rama's chart looked like. He had Mars in the 7th and was a cancer ascendent, so

as far as i can tell, his was separated from his wife Sita for some time. Also,

the exalted mars was the cause for him meeting Hanuman who eventually helped

Rama get Sita back.
