Namaste Chandrasekhar Ji, Ramesh Ji and Anil,

Yes, you are correct PP means "PranaPada" Lagna in JHora

Software. Maharishi Parashara explains the calculation of

Pranapada Lagna as follows: The time from sunrise to birth

should be converted into Vighatis and divided by 15. The

remainder should be converted into signs and degrees, taking

Vighatis (Palas) as whole signs and Vipalas as degrees. If

the Sun is in movable sign, add the result to the Sun's

longitude at sunrise, if in a fixed sign then to the 9th

from that, and if in a dual sign, then to the 5th from that.

If Pranapada Lagna falls into the 2nd, 5th, 9th, 4th, 10th

or 11th from the Janma Lagna, then the native may be declared

to be happy and his birth is auspicious, while if the opposite

holds true, then his birth brings some misfortune.

Maharishi Jaimini gives a whole set of rules for judging the

effects from Pranapada:

The results of the Pranapada in different houses are given

by Parasara in BPHS and the results will be greatly modified

by the planets (as lords of houses) associating with the

Pranapada. The results of signs associating with Pranapada

are given in the Jaimini Sutra and the results will be

greatly modified by the nature of the planets (as lords of

such signs) associating with the Pranapada.

We can use this PranaPada Lagna as one of the a birth time

rectification tool too. Please refer BPHS - Chapter 25 and

Jaimini Upadesa Sutram's by Sanjay Rath Ji for more detailed

explanations.

Hope the above may be of some help to you.

Regards

Raghunadha Rao

Dear Chandrashekharji and Rao,

It is nice to have PP on JHL 6.0. I realise that its navamsa position which

is used for Birth time rectification is quite sensitive to the time of

Sunrise!

On the lighter side my wife uses this abbreviation for Pani Puri.

Best Regards

Ramesh
