Dear Visti ji

My name was mistyped as prabodh ... though what is in a name:-)

If we analyse from chandra lagna as well or even from surya - then

surya will be in kendra from chandra(suppose if chandra is in cancer

for leo lagna).I hope under such a case marana sthana effects get

diluted.Kindly explain.

Dear Visti ji

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I understand now, that marana karaka is not to be seen w.r to surya

or chandra lagnas.

Is the definition of marana karaka sthanas based on certain positions

from karaka lagnas.For example Sun is karaka for lagna and hence when

in 12th from that position is subjected to difficulties? Similarly

Venus is karaka for 7th house and 6th house being its marana

karaka.But i found it difficult to correlate similarly for other

planets.

Why is 12th from moon difficult for spouse ,when influenced by

malefics?Is it same as upa pada principle w.r to moon in this case.I

think 6,7th and 8th are w.r to adhi yoga principles.What is the

reason for 6th ,7th and 8th houses given a high improtance for money

matters.Any thing related to protection of important houses and

giving critical aspects.6th is 2nd from 5th and 8th is 2nd from 7th

(Also 5th aspects 11th and 8th aspects 2nd).Planet in 7th will aspect

lagna.

Dear Chandrashekhar ji

Thanks for making me understand the logic behind the rajayoga.Now i

was thinking conjunction(being in same rashi)also gives results

similar to aspects,and hence took the example of leo lagna with sun

and moon in cancer.But as you have said paksha bala will be lacking

when sun and moon are together,and hence kalyan varma would had been

having aspect from 7th in his mind.Was the stability you have

mentioned in decision making because of moon in saturn rashi?Is it

because capricorn is a prithvi tatwa rashi?

I understand now, that marana karaka is not to be

seen w.r to surya

Venus is karaka for 7th house and 6th house being

Thanks for the reply.

I was trying to understand your explanation.I think saturn is a

marana karaka for sun and moon (as it owns maraka houses from sun and

moon respectively).Thus when sun or moon is in such a house ,where a

maraka becomes karaka - it experiences marana thulya diffiulties.I

think as Chandrashekhar ji has mentioned, only multiple evil factors

may result in pronounced effects. Becasue even marakas can become

good dhanyoga karakas.

Similarly Venus rules maraka houses from mars and mercury and thus

the house where it is a karaka - becomes marana karaka for the said

planets.similar was the case with other planets.

But i have found in some cases 2nd house rulership is taken while for

the others, 7th rulership.Are there any special reasons?

Mars is karaka for 3rd house, the marana sthana for jupiter.From

jupiter(w.r to pisces) mars owns 2nd house, while from dhanu it rules

5th.

Is my understanding going in the right direction.

Dear Visti, Laxmi and others,

That was a "nice" example that you gave.

I like to add from my own experience as to Rahu in the 9th (MSK) WITH lagna lord

(Sun in my case).

At the commencement of Vim. dasa of Jupiter (8th lord)/Sun (lagna lord with Rahu

in the 9th in Aries which lord Mars is in Cancer) I got "out of the blue" very

strong migraine attacks (head) and was diagnosed by a British specialist with

the comment "sorry to inform you sir ...... learn to live with it ...".

Those who suffer from migraines know what its like... they attacked 'super

strong' at 'any time - any place', even during sleeping hours.

Well, Moon antar was not better as Moon is the lord of Mars who is lord of Rahu & Sun ...

I learned to recognise the pre-signals and managed to control the attacks with simple medication.

Then came Mars antar followed by Rahu antar. One can only guess how those years/periods were.

BUT THEN ... as soon as Rahu antar ended (and I mean literally almost by the

date!) and with it also the end of Jupiter mahadasa, THE MIGRAINE ATTACKS WERE

GONE FOREVER ....

Say what you like about that but it surely was some sort of PUNISHMENT .

Rähu is in Cancer – unconjoined in my chart. During Moon Dasa, Yama came to take

me 3 times – twice due to an injury to the head, and once I almost drowned – but

all 3 incidents happened in water (Cancer). My Family also moved to Denmark in

that time, fearing that the scene in Kenya was going for the worse (4th lord in

Marana Karaka Sthäna).

As soon as Rähu Dasa started I have been traveling and studying Jyotish

(Badhakesh in the 11th house).

Now notice that Rähu is AK as well. So here Rähu is actually making me spiritual

– how? Rähu in Marana Karaka Sthäna will show the fall of religious institutions

or temples which will encourage me to be more spiritual - AK. So when people say

that one should leave Veda’s and Vedangas to the Indians, I say that I’ve only

seen the majority of Indians make a greater mess of it – But that is my Atma.

There was also some punishment before I turned towards Jyotish and Spirituality,

because of Rähu being in the Dharma Sthäna – malefics in the 9th house or joined

9th lord, will punish the person quite severely and cause dur-bhagya.

I.e. take Franklin D. Roosevelt – after he admitted to having an illicit affair,

he got polio and lost his legs. He had 7th lord Saturn in the 9th, hence some

Adharma related to 7th house.

I have a small query about nodes being placed in maranakaraka sthana. Nodes are

supposed to give the results of their house lords in an enhanced manner. When

you talked of Rahu placed in a temple, that is the 9th house, he is in marana

karaka sthana. Will such a Rahu be capable of fully delivering the "enhanced"

results? Or is it that his power to deliver is not impaired, it is only that he

has lost his maleficence?

If so, is maranakaraka sthana a good placement for malefics, both natural as

well as functional? For example, I have Saturn and Rahu in maranakaraka sthana

and in amrita & saumya shashtyamsas, which i guess would slightly blunt the

sharp edges! And my Rahu dasa, as I have stated so often, is just TERRIFIC.

Infact, i keep wondering if my Jupiter Mahadasa would be as good!!

You too have Rahu in 9th house, and you are currently running Rahu dasa too and

I am sure your experience is also the same. Perhaps, Rahu, when placed in a

temple, will use the japamala also with equal fervour?

No, its got nothing todo with lordships from their signs.

It has to do with the characteristics and goals of that planet. Mars is the

Karaka of Brahmachari hood, and he has lost his complete purpose of life when

he gets married so Mars Marana Karaka Sthdna is the 7th house. Jupiter above

all tries to maintain peace in society, and promoting spirituality. When

Jupiter puts the mala aside and picks up the Gun, he has lost his complete

purpose in life. Rdhu is the bhogi and as far as he is concerned the world

should be one big market place where you can buy anything you please now

picture putting Rdhu in a temple and asking him to say prayers he looses his

purpose in life completely his kdrakatva looses meaning in this world and he

may just as well end his life thats Marana Karaka Sthdna.

Dear Visti ji

Read about your difficulties in the past.May be it was an initiation

process,towards the eternal truth.

But Rahu in 9th or joining 9th lord has to give effects of the house

of placement or aspects.Thus Rahu associated to 9th should be a

beneficial placement.Because Rahu will be always under pressure and

guidance from ninth lord.If it was associated to 6th house/lord

rather,it will get encouragement for its acts.

If Rahu joins moon - it can affect concentration or results in

wavering, and make things slow.When joins mercury it can make the

mercury think or act more fast.In both the cases Rahu's influence is

the same,but the difference lies in the way the planets are

reacting.Thus it depends on with whom he is interacting and to what

environment he is subjected to.

Thus I believe Rahu when compared to other malefics does not have a

nature of its own unless, when alone.Then he may act as Shani as in

your case.Vajpayee ji has rahu in cancer in the 9th.Thus it was a

position giver and Rajayogakaraka in politics.

I have been running Rahu Dasha since 92 (12 years).Rahu in

dhanasthana with 9th lord sun,10th(&7th) lord mercury and 8th lord

moon.It was a mixture.No doubt rahu tries to influence the mind in a

great way,but sun is supreme and my AK.

Rahu is in sudha/sathya shashtyamsha.I did not have any clue about

vedic astrology - but in rahu dasha/mercury antar dasha(2001) - I had

started learning astrology all off a sudden.This was not because of

any difficulties,but purely out of coincidence and interest.I believe

this was because of mercury's association to sun(9th lord) and their

conjunction with Rahu.Also ,started doing MBA in Rahu-mercury.Rahu

joinining 9th lord took me to foreign,6-7 years back.Marriage /child

loss/child birth, all happened in Rahu.But I don't know as you have

said - I have faced setbacks and failure(Ra/Ju) while attempting for

a top exam in india and also in personal life before getting a good

break.As Rahu's dispositor saturn is in the 6th - I had to face lot

of enemity and pain during its dasha.I was almost made an outcaste.

(Luckily this was not related to anything important - it was related

to a cricket club ).But such difficulties make one more matured and

make you strong.I have found saturn in 6th will give extremely

cunning enemies,but saturn is capable of defending as well.

>From this example ,I believe it may not be correct, to generalise

9th house/lord association.Especially in the case of Rahu as he mixes

freely with everyone and anything,thus one should be careful in

observing his contacts/influences.
