Dear Alexandro,

Every 1/4th part of a constellation called Nakshatra pada, that is

occupied by Moon at birth, is alloted a letter. A child used to be

named with that particular letter being the starting letter of the

Name. Later on the system of having a Birth name in accordance with

Moon's position at birth and a Calling (Roodha) Name evolved.

The method assists a Jyotish to know the Mahadasha at birth and the

Rasi of Moon ( also known as Moon Lagna) and enables his to predict

rough trends of future events on the basis of planetary transits,

without the necessity of a birth chart. At least this is my personal

opinion.

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Members,

I understand that in India, persons are named according to the

position of the moon in their chart. Is this correct? How does this

work exactly?

Alexandro
