Guest guest
I went to a jyotisha in Sri Lanka (or sastrya, as it is said in Singhala), and he wrote up a chart. When he read it, he said I had an incredibly powerful horoscope. Any comments on whether he was correct or not? I purchased "Under a Vedic Sky" by William Levacy, but learning to read my horoscope is something, I realize, that takes YEARS of practice and experience. I was born on January 14th, 1976 at 2:22pm in New York. A question I had is this: some people tell me that it is important, for marriage compatibility purposes in Sri Lanka, to calculate my horoscope by shifting it to Sri Lankan time. That is, to make my birthtime several hours ahead to get the Sri Lankan time of my birth. Others say this is wrong, and to use my birthtime as it is, where I was born, that is, New York. Who is correct?
Guest guest
Hello Sunspot: You SHOULDN'T move your birth time to Sri Lankan time, doing so is a totally incorrect way of casting your chart. You should cast your birth chart based on New York as the birth place and the New York time as the birth time. You don't need to buy Parashara's Light as FREE software is available on www..com which was developed by Narasimha who is the founder of this discussion group. Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, This letter is for you, since it concerns jhl6. I'm a user of Parasara's Light as well, and found the ephemeris of planets in jhl6 slightly different than in other softwares, usually the Moon and ascendant are the same, but planets like Mars and Saturn may be off even about 1/2 minute of arc. I wonder why is this so? Are you using another ephemeris? I tend to believe the ephemeris in Parashara's Light is more accurate. >You don't need to buy Parashara's Light as FREE software is available >on www..com which was developed by Narasimha who is the >founder of this discussion group.
