Guest guest
Dear Friends, Namaste, Some humble and short thoughts from my side; to continue the discussion; - Fate/Free-will is the up to date unresolved issue of Determinism in Western Philosophy (to the best of my knowledge). - This is a question on Philosophy because "scientific experiments" can not be conducted on this subject, hence the issue is approached by logical inference e.g. philosophy. Again to the best of my knowledge it is unresolved. E.g. whether there is fate or free will or not, and to what extents etc. - BUT The scriptures (subjective method of reaching reality) shed light on this subject. In the Bhagavat Gita, it is said; "Unfathomable is the course of action", which can be interpreted as; the human mind can not really decide where he used his free will, and where what happened was due to karma. E.g. the course of events in the unfoldment of live is very very very complicated, so we can not know which action is a reaction to past action e.g. karma (As far as I remember, The Gita continues as; "Even the wise are bewildered here"). Maybe an enlightened Sage can distinguish between these two, and have some strong free will to change the course of events, but I am sure, even they are to a large extent subject to karma.
