Dear learned Gurus,

Please help me understand the following translation of Parashara's

chapter 30 (Raja Yoga) Sh 6-7:

"6-7. Maha Raja Yoga. Should Lagnas Lord and 5ths Lord exchange

their Râúis, or, if Atma Karak and 5th Karak (Char) are in Lagna, or

in 5th House, or in the exaltation Râúi, or in own Râúi, or in own

Navâmúa, receiving a Aspect from a benefic, Maha Raja Yoga is

produced. "

There seem to be many criteria rolled into one shloka. My

understanding is that any one of the following criteria causes Maha

Raja Yoga:

1. Lagna Lord and 5th Lord exchange their Rasi's. (Does it matter

whether they are benefics or malefics?)

2. AK and 5th Karak (is this the Naisargik Karak? Is it Jupiter

for the 5th House?) -- that means the AK and Jupiter are conjunct in

Lagna or the 5th house.

3. The AK is in his own house/exaltation rasi; AND 5th Karak

(Jupiter) is in Pi, Sg or Cn.

4. AK is in his own house in Navamsa chart AND 5th Karak Jupiter is

in Pi, SG or Cn in Navamsa chart, both receiving aspect from a

benefic. Benefic here can mean the other natural benefic Venus OR

the Auspicous Planets depending on the Lagna in Navamsa chart,

described by Maharishi in Chapter 34 (Yoga Karaka).

Thanks in advance.

Sudarshan

Dear Sudarshan Ji,

You have raised these queries as it is evident that you are not familier with Jaimini system of astrology. The Maharaj Yoga explained by great Rishi Parashar, indeed, is extremely powerful Yoga, taking natives to the height depending on the strenghth of Yoga and other cobtributing factors. It being repeated in verga divisions is sure confirmation of fructification.

The fifth karaka being referred to is Pitru / Putra Karaka, the fifth most advanced planet longitudenally. This has to be seen with refrence to Lagna, Aaroodha Pada (AL), Karakaansa, Swaansa as also in the divisional chart.

Shri KN Rao, PV Narsimha Rao and Pandit Sanjay Rath have done good jobs on Jaimini System and their books are recommended to be read.

Om Namo Narayana.
