Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Namaste friends, We had many puzzles on this list in the past. There were puzzles that were solved correctly by some members. In general, we recognize that "the proof is in the pudding". We encourage puzzles here and we encourage members to try to solve them without the fear of embarrassment. However, puzzles have always been addressed to the list and members chose to try them on a voluntary basis. It is in poor taste to address a puzzle to a single individual. Here is an example. Visti wrote: > Dear Ramadas, Namaskar> > You seem very clear in your definition. Please analyze these two charts and> tell which of the natives has a skin disease, so we can learn from your> analysis. Whether Visti meant to challenge Ramadas ji or not, I, as the admin of this list, do not consider this attitude appropriate. If Visti wanted to learn from the analysis of Ramadas ji, he could have mentioned who had skin disease and who didn't and asked Ramadas ji to explain why, using his approach. That would've been respectful and positive. On the contrary, Visti chose to give a puzzle to Ramadas ji. While puzzles are welcome here, I do not appreciate puzzles addressed to single individuals. There is a thin line between challenging and inquiring. When you give a puzzle on the list, please address it to the list. Whoever wants to try will try. Never give a puzzle addressed to a single individual. None of us has perfect knowledge. Negative attitude of challenging people and trying to disprove their knowledge by giving them puzzles is not conducive to our collective growth. Members are requested to desist from this kind of attitude in future.
