Guest guest
Dear All, Not only is the time but also the date and place of birth is disputed. From http://pedia.nodeworks.com/Y/YA/YAS/Yasser_Arafat/ Biography Arafat was one of seven children born to a merchant. The date and place of Arafat's birth have been disputed. His birth certificate, discovered at Cairo University, states that Arafat was born in Cairo, Egypt on August 24, 1929. However, some still support the claim that Arafat was been born in Jerusalem on August 4, 1929, although even his authorized biographer, Alan Hart, says he was born in Cairo. (p.23) "There is no absolute information on his place of birth; a cousin says he once boasted of having office records in Cairo destroyed in order to underscore his born-in- Jerusalem image" Bill Meridian sends a Xerox page of W.H. CIDA goves Sept. 27, 1929, Cairo, Eygipt, time 2AM.Carole Hemingway reports that biography.com states: "His date and place of birth are disputed; while he claims to have been born August 4, 1929, in Jerusalem, a birth certificate gives the date as August 24, 1929, in Cairo, Egypt."LMR notes that in a newspaper interview, he explained that "facts" or "truth" as known to the western mind, has a more flexible interpretation in the mid-east.
